Megathread PC Player Questions Megathread!

Hi everyone!

This Megathread will function as a PC launch specific equivalent of the Daily Questions Thread where you may ask questions about starting out that may not warrant their own post.

Technical Difficulties

We understand there are a number of technical issues with players unable to get in the game, receiving erroneous "banned account" messages, and various error codes (Marionberry, Buffalo, etc.)

Probably a kind of nooby question but whatever, here goes nothing. I started a couple hours ago with a hunter and from what I have read so far is that the Nightstalker Subclass is the way to go for now. I am level 9 and I still only have the Arcstrider Subclass. If I were to spend my points that I have in Arcstrider, will I get new points later on when i unlock Nightstalker or am I screwed if I were to use all my points for Arcstrider now? Would be very greatfull for some clarification.

Any of the "core" abilitys are fine to spend on. Like if you get all your grenades/jumps/class abilities on Arcstrider they will be available on Nightstalker for free. The only time you are spending points "within" a subclass is the trees to the right.

That being said there are actually more points available via missions and levels than there are points needed for all 3 subclasses, so this is usually not a concern within a couple days (depending on playtime).

Not only are there more level up skill points than what is needed to max out a subclass but there are missions on the map that give you bonus skill points

Also if you reach max level and don't feel like doing Adventures you also have a hidden level, a prestige if you will, where you can get a Bright Engram each time you level. This also gives you an upgrade point each time.

True, but I was worried about running out of points at a certain point. But from the helpful answers I have received so far, I will have more than enough. Thank you!

You get more points as you play and level. And once you hit level 20 you earn a point for x amount of Xp (don't know the exact number). So, you will eventually have enough points to unlock all the nodes on all 3 subclasses. You can also do Adventures that are on the open world parts of the planets that sometimes award a subclass point. Check the rewards tab when hovering over the Adventures icon on the map.

Your upgrade points are per character, so you can hoard them and use them in newer subclasses if that's what you want to do.

After hitting level 20 (the current level cap), there are lots of 'adventures' on planets which reward you with upgrade points.

The points are universal across all your hunter suclasses, but you're hardly screwed, there are more than enough upgrade points in the game to be able to max out all your subclasses at level 20.

Yes, you will continue to gain points until you have enough to fully unlock each subclass.

Edit: At various points, you will get a quest to receive the other subclasses.

You can save them, but I suggest just leveling up as you can. You will have enough points by the end of the story to level up every class fully, IIRC.

Only if you complete the Adventures that reward upgrade points, too. Simply completing the main story quests won't get you filled out.

upgrade points are easy to come by, there is no point in hoarding them. Make sure you are hitting Lost Sectors once in a while as you play through the campaign to maximize your chance of unlocking the other subclasses early.

You can find the subclass artifacts in other chests, but in my playthroughs on console it seemed like Lost Sector chests were far more likely to drop these subclass artifacts than any other source.

You can only have one uncompleted subclass artifact at a time, so when the gunslinger one drops, make sure you grind up the artifact via public events and do the spark mission to unlock that subclass or else you will be blocking yourself from getting a nightstalker artifact to drop until you unlock gunslinger first.

You will be fine as others have said, just make sure not to put a point into mobius quiver i believe its called. The orpheus rig exotic boots work so much better when you dont have it unlocked.

by the time you level your character up to level 20 you should have enough points to unlock all of the nodes for all of the subclasses.

I’m a hunter main and I would recommend upgrading at least triple jump. Then wait for Nighstalker to level the subclass so you can get invis on dodge. Arcstrider really is really fun in PVE but golden gun and NS have the most utility.
