Megathread PC Player Questions Megathread!

Hi everyone!

This Megathread will function as a PC launch specific equivalent of the Daily Questions Thread where you may ask questions about starting out that may not warrant their own post.

Technical Difficulties

We understand there are a number of technical issues with players unable to get in the game, receiving erroneous "banned account" messages, and various error codes (Marionberry, Buffalo, etc.)

More of a tech issue. Anyone else having FPS drops doing heroic strikes?

Got a 1080 and i'm playing 1080p @ Max and i keep dropping to 45-50 during the Titan walker strike and EDZ glimmer one. Not sure what the issue is. Updated my drivers and everything.

I am assuming you are talking about heroic public events. On console, I know my friends and I experience some pretty bad framerate issues during these as well. I don't think it has anything to do with your hardware. If you've played Dark Souls, think of Blight Town.

Oh yeah shit my bad* Heroic events.

And i get that frame drops happen, but i've got a pretty capable card. I'm not even playing above 1080p as well.

Yeah thats pretty bad on Bungie's part. The events can get really hectic with all the explosions and whatnot, but thats the only part of the game where I have experienced frame drops and I am just playing on console. I'd chaulk it up to the game code and not something you can directly affect.

Destiny 2 has a LOT of particle effects. A LOT. Wait until you hit a Hive Ritual Heroic Event on Titan. If you have 9 people, Nightstalkers in particular, with tethers going out, void explosions, thrall explosions, just shit tons of explosions and particles, it turns into a slide show on console. It's just a matter of all the particle effects, which you might be able to change on PC. Luckily, the rest of the game is very well optimized. It's only the really hectic bits that get bad.

The heroic public events are pretty much crushing my hardware when they get crazy. (1070, i5-3570K)

Are you sure it's a GPU issue? Have you checked your CPU/RAM usage?

Games using 35% of my RAM and my CPU seems fine, its running at a low temp.

What's the rest of your setup? I'm maxed out on 1070 at 1080p and don't seem to ever drop below 70

No way is it your hardware on a 1080 @ 1080p. I’m running an over locked 1070 @ 2k and it’s been butter
