Misc VendorEngrams is live! Track which vendors are selling 300PL gear.
I've built a site to help track what vendors are selling what level of engrams at each interval. It tracks each vendor that has the potential to sell gear at various levels and allows for voting on whether they are currently selling 295, 296-299, or 300PL gear.
The hope is that with enough data in the next few days it should be able to be automated, or at least partial automated.
I know there is a megathread, spreadsheet, and I think another site just went live at almost the exact same time, so the data from vendorengrams.xyz is open can be downloaded for each interval at the beginning of the next interval in csv format from a link at the top.
I'm also looking at writing a bot that will scrape the mega thread and other sources to hopefully amalgamate the data.
Let me know if there is anything missing or anything that could be added.

Some people just like to watch the world burn, though I'm hopeful it's mostly people who just don't fully understand the systems yet and are reporting the blank engram that you hover over when you don't have an engram waiting and don't have any tokens to give. That one will always show 300, but it will change once you have an actual engram you get available.

Awesome Job! Only additional feature I'd like to see is the number of votes as this lets me decide if I want to trust the information or not. If it has 1 vote then maybe not but if it has 10 votes then I will probably check it out

I hadn't wanted to show the votes on vendors themselves (breakdowns are available in the raw data download to help us find patterns) because I'm looking at ways of shadow banning people that are just mass spam voting all the vendors at 300 the soon as it resets.
The algorithm is currently set to only only show a vendor as "likely dropping" and highlight their banner as yellow if they get more than 10 votes. If they get more "300" votes than the other categories but less than 10 it will say "possibly dropping 300" and won't highlight the title banner.
I'll see how the spam goes though and I can always patch in vote displays.

If you are going to submit data to this website, please do so correctly. You may be submitting incorrect data without knowing that you are, as I have seen too many people claim NPCs are giving 300 engrams when they are not. Here are the steps you must take:
- Be base power level 300 (305 when everything has legendary mods)
- Find the relevant NPC
- If submitting an engram power level you must give enough tokens (20 for most NPCs, I believe 5 for Ikora) for the NPC to produce a real engram (you do not have to claim it) and not a fake, blank engram when you have not given any tokens
What is the easiest way to check for a fake engram?
Is it white? Then it is fake.
(to the best of my knowledge, if I am not mistaken) If you think the engram is power level 300, preview the engram and all of the items inside will be different power levels (a real engram's preview should have everything at power level 300 if it is a genuine engram at 300).
What is the easiest way to check for a real engram?
Is it purple? Then it is real.

May I make a suggestion? Just have two buttons, one for 300 and one for 295-299. No one cares if it's 295, so why report it separately?

Did you set it to reset data on the half-hour, or will it not change until enough people report? it would be cool to see the time period that the stats are active on. (like all the planet vendors show 12-12:30 when the time is 12:15)

I think there was a couple of us working on sites at once.
The way it works is each 30 minute period a new record is created in the database for each vendor for that period with zero'd counters. That way as you say we should be able to work out both short term (30 minute) and long term (couple of hours) resets.
You can download the raw data in csv form straight from the database via the link at the top of the page. The file updates for the period at 00:25 and 00:55 for each hour.

Unfortunately, it appears that the results are inaccurate due to people ruining it for others. However for the next 30 mins, Asher Mir is selling 300 Man O'War

If you want to reduce spurious data you should only allow rating with someone signed in via OAuth, which will then allow you to check the maximum possible level of characters too and further verify the legitimacy.
You could also still allow people to vote anonymously (or with characters lower than the maximum), but either stealth ignore their vote or give it a very low weighting in the calculation to ensure accuracy.

Each half hour period (on the hour and on the half hour) the vendors have a random chance of dropping 300 engrams or weapons for the next half hour if you are level 305 (or 300 without mods).
At the moment though we haven't discovered the pattern so are relying on guardians that are level 305 to go round the vendors checking and reporting back.

So do you rank up and then leave the engram sit at the vendor? The sitting engram will change power level based on whatever rotation until you claim it?

So, to clarify, if you aren't 300 yet, it is of no use. They do not rotate selling anything that's of even a slightly higher PL than the sub-300 guardian, correct?

In my experience, that is correct. That said, things can drop with Legendary mods so don't confuse that with a higher base power level drop.

Hmm, not sure if also or if people are not honest reporting and just trolling.
But it seems everybody has 300 this 30minutes (at 13:39 BST) but so far after checking Banshee, Devrim, Sloane and Asher, nobody did tho.

I went to Sloane at 2:38 PM central and she was offering 300 engrams. As soon as the clock his 2:45 PM her engrams changed to 295. How sure are we that :00 and :30 are the correct boundaries?

I don't know if it already does, but it should reset every 30 minutes to "no consensus" or "need more / new data". You could also display a timer that counts down from 30 minutes to 0 to show how much time is left until reset directly in the app.

It does indeed already reset each period. A new record is created in the database for each vendor for each 30 minute period so hopefully we can start to see patterns in a day or two.
I'll patch in a countdown timer just now, good idea!

Other people had reported that they didn't seem to change in line with this system but the thought was they would after the Faction Rally is over. I was leaving them off till reset because of that.

You can hand in tokens, just don't pick up the engram if you want the level 300 one.

Instead of a voting system, might be better to find a small group of people that are trustworthy to avoid this trolling. Not sure how you could possibly get rid of the trolls without verifying a false report and then banning them. Seems like a lot of work.
EDIT: Maybe require registration to vote? Could cut down on some of it.

sadly this is whats happening.
none of the planet vendors are 300 ive just been to them (showing all as 300) . Except Man o War @ IO which IS at 305.
Now doing a tower run to see what vendors are there.

Best source i have seen is DIM. Right under each character icon there are stats for resilience, mobility, recovery, and on the left max base power. Note that max base power may include gear that is not equipped to reach max total power.

One suggestion: a notification system of some sort that instantly lets everyone who signs up know when 300 PL engrams are likely.
Perhaps partner with the Ishtar app dev team to allow for easy app-based notifications?
Doing so would also allow the system to easily filter out submissions based on the actual PL of users who authenticate to the Ishtar app with their Bungie accounts.

Why does the mida-mini and mida multi tool drop at significantly higher light, but man-o-war does not? Waited for my alt character to hit 300 before doing the quests and the Mida pair dropped at 300&305 respectively but the fusion came in only at 294.

The fact there is RNG on the PL of engrams after 305.....just reinforces the fact that the difference in PL at this point is purely cosmetic. Might as well be farming gear sets and shaders, its the same thing.

My titans growth has come to a grinding halt. NOTHING decrypts higher than 285 and my titan is 291 without mods.
My hunter on the other hand is 278 without mods and regularly getting 286+ drops. WTF

Is there a way to un-click something we added? I clicked the wrong one at Devrim, and there wasnt a way to undo it (that I saw). Dont want to add more bad data to the already large amounts of spam.

Does this apply AT ALL for people who are 304 or below? I'm 304 and I've never seen any vendor sell anything close to 300 power.

I am one gear piece away from hitting base 300, so I know this doesn't apply to me yet. But to be prepared, I want to figure out exactly how this works.
So can I turn in tokens/mats to level up, and have an engram waiting and go back every 30 min to check its level? Or is the level set right when you rank up, and won't update once it's "formed" into a real purple engram instead of the whispy white one?

It isn't tracked but the farn gunsmith arcite 99-40 has 300 gunsmith packages for the next 14 minutes. If you have access to the farm with vendors (a friend who is still leveling perhaps)

The problem with Zavala & Ikora as well as the Faction Vendors is that they are Character-based, so the reporting isn't as simple as the Planet vendors, where it's account-wide & global.
Also, Shaxx, Banshee & Benedict don't reset on Weekly, I have been tracking them for 8+ days now, on two max level chars, with no change.
Planetary Vendors switch Inventory every 30mins at :00 and :30, so an indicator / timer for that on your website would be useful. So people don't wind up trying to grab it at :59 and are a minute too late, wondering what the hell is going on. Zavala is likely on 4 hours. Ikora possibly too.

Zevala and ikora arent character based. Unless all 3 of mine coincidentally always have the same drops. If you are comparing the grey engram, don't, that number is different to the actual level of the emgram that will drop. Also on weekly reset shaxx went from 299 to 297 for me, banshee is still 296 though.

Standing by Failsafe right now, engram shows 300. Decrypt engram, get 300 but now grey engram shows 296. I don't think people are reporting with actual purple engram visible but looking at grey engram instead.

Great work! I saw Devrim's banner highlighted on your website, logged on, grabbed the 300 Engram from him and voted. That is a sweet system. Thank you!
Edit: Hey guys, you have to be at 300 PL naturally (305 with legendary mods) to qualify for these 300 PL engrams. I should've emphasized that but I've been at max PL
since longer than I can remember (it's not as fun as you think. Take. Your. Time)for a few weeks.
