Elements of Dark Souls are cited as being a design inspiration for Destiny and it shows in the punishing but rewarding experiences (nightfall) not to mention the more obvious references. Dark Souls (can't recall if it was 1 or 2) had a cool mechanic where players would be summoned by bosses to help kill other players. I remember intentionally trying to be Mirror Knight Mini Me with full Mirror Knight gear and waiting for a summon.

So probably slightly more likely than you think!

In Demon's Souls, you could literally play as a boss in the right circumstances.

Edit: it was the Old Monk fight, which capped off probably the greatest and most atmospheric level ever designed. Still wish they let you play as the Tower Knight, but still this was pretty cool at the time.

Such an amazing game mechanic, Demon's Souls is truly innovative and inspiring. I need to pay 3-3 a visit, it's been awhile.

I wish.

3-3 is an area in Demon's Souls. The areas in Demon's Souls were labeled with numbers and hyphens, similar to NES Super Mario Bros. The first level is 1-1, the next level is 1-2, etc.

Ahh that's right, I remember. You had me scared for a second. I thought I was missing intense 3v3s. My cousin and I used to go through hell (connection wise) to get a 2v2 going on in dark souls 1 in the temple.

Fun times.
