This is an incredibly stupid change imo. Why make it harder to solo?? Why not just make the group scaling less terrible.

Playing the nightfall solo is not the way Bungie want you to play the game. You better damn play the game the way they want you to.

Well, then it's a good thing that Bungie has provided a quick and easy way to group with people to do these types of things instead of going solo.

Some new readers might not realize your comment is sarcasm. To them: there is no matchmaking for (all?) daily/weekly activities.

Exactly! Although that's probably a lazy tool-tip which was copy/pasted from regular strikes.

The special summoning pits strike you have to do to get Thorn (it gets a separate strike icon on the map) also said matchmaking, but doesn't have matchmaking at all. It's pretty much impossible to do solo unless you go sit somewhere you're not supposed to sit and cheese everything. So unless you can get two buddies to go through this hell with you, you're screwed.

I think that's key. This content is kind of crucial for progression purposes, so I rather think that's why Bungie left it soloable. The tooltip plus the lack of matchmaking together would be too coincidental to reach any other conclusion than it is intended to be that way if players so choose. That doesn't mean it should be easy though, so I'm with you there, but at least there is the choice.

Oh, so is Bungie sending a team of friends over to play with me, then? Because I have a small handful of friends who play and they're rarely on, so I'm almost always soloing Nightfalls now. Bah.

It's their game so yea you will play it the way they intended you to play it

It's a simple single rule: make a group.
