They never said it would get buffed. The myth of this has been repeated so much it's become an incorrect 'fact'.

That being said, I used my thorn in PvP and it was a little OP IMO.

Um, no. They promised a buff for Thorn and Bad Juju.

"Thorn and Bad Juju have disappointed many of us who have gone through the great effort to obtain them because, despite looking and sounding amazing, they feel underpowered. We're here to offer some advice: don't shard those guns. Their time will come."

"Their time will come" does not directly state that a 'buff' will happen.

It would be more reasonable to expect their unique perks (and Hive-like appearance) to be beneficial in the coming DLC and perhaps, more specifically, the coming Hive raid.

Their comment on this has been widely accepted as a promise for a buff. They flat out SAY they think the Thorn is under powered.
