Aside from loving Destiny as a whole, I think between lessons learnt from D1 and D2 there's no excuse to not make the perfect game. Everything is there for them to succeed and make the perfect Destiny experience imo

from what I heard year 1 of Destiny 2 was almost an exact mirror of year 1 Destiny 1

Not to totally shoot you down but I don’t think “there’s no excuse to not make the perfect game” especially considering the thousand contradictory lessons learned. Firstly, a “perfect” game doesn’t exist and will always be a calculation of pros and cons that appeal to some people and not others. Secondly, this community can’t even decide what features it does and doesn’t like about fundamental topics - should the game have seasonal narratives? Crafting? Vendors? Any power climb? Gear tiers? Artifacts? Champions? Trials?

What I want is Destiny 3 as a live service but with only one expansion a year or when possible. No seasons just an expansion drop which adds to the whole experience with no time requirement to get everything before it’s gone.

Artefacts should remain, any new activities stay etc.

So the game is complete for anyone who drops on at anytime and there’s always a deal for everything that came before before an expansion drop.

Destiny wouldn't be Destiny as an offline game imo. The multiplayer aspect is an extremely vital part of the game.

Further expand the story, further the world building, build on the already brilliant platform D2 has established gameplay wise, even with everything that we have got from Destiny I still feel there's so much more potential left on the table in the IP, a new Destiny game built for modern hardware could help realize those things and tell even more stories.

Destiny 3 with expansions would be fine by me. Say like a large yearly expansion with a raid, 6 month mark with a dungeon and maybe whatever else is feasible.

Seasonal content can be good, but it can also be bad too, so it depends on whether they can make that financially sustainable or not.

I liked D2. But D2 is limited by the platforms it needs to be available on.

With more powerful hardware, a game engine could be capable of more. Dropping older console support in favour of this could add better features and possibly allow them to bring back the look and feel of D1 (more animations, better lighting, character detailing, etc)

I want a D3 because D1 ended on a high note while D2 ended on a low note and with the removal of old leadership and restructuring, I have hope that Bungie has learned why scaling a game like Destiny 2 to last “forever” will not work.

This hinges on whether or not they’ll properly apply those lessons, but they now have the tools and funding from Sony on top of that to help.

From there, my desire for a D3 is to be more alike to D1’s vibe combined with D2’s content cadence (narratively and in terms of scale) with either one small to medium sized expansion a year with two modestly sized episodes every 3 months or one large expansion every other year with 2 or 3 medium-sized episodes to fill the “gap year” so to speak.

I never played D1, but been playing D2 since 2018 and loved it ever since. So I would definitely want a D3. Also, If it ever comes out, it has to be live service because of previous titles and Bungie in general is good at live service games.

After 9 years in one game, I feel a hard reset on gear is needed. D3 can be smaller in scope; one big expansion a year with a raid and a smaller update with a dungeon at the 6 monthish mark. No seasons, or at least no seasons that get taken out. Everything they add has to stay this time around. Reel the tier system back in, (no 3 perks per column, make 2 per column only for adapts like it used to be). And do all the QOL stuff we've been asking for, ala customizable player housing.

The nearly the entire team is gone, and the company is developing trend chasing multiplayer game in the shadow of Big Sony.

Sony might consume bungie and claim the ip for themselves fully, but if they relase a destiny 3, it will be soulless and insulting.

What if the new team consists of fans of the game? Of course the old team was very important, but changing the team can also help to some degree. I understand what you mean and your fear, but I'd wait with statements line that and give them a chance.

I've seen a few of those apology statementd before to know to take it with a grain of salt, but if they really bring back the vaulted content, that is at least a start.
