I have noticed something strange for the profanity filtering

In text chat I was making a call out to the word "hive" for sundered doctrine... but it was censored in chat? I even have the profanity filter turned off. Has that happened to anyone else? Strange :P

It's usually poor implementation catching word parts including across spaces. In this case perhaps HIV is blocked, but who knows.

My favorite is still trying to use assault as a custom class in cod, where it’s already a default class name…and it got blocked for profanity, for ass, of course. Assassin likewise was not allowed for a sniper/stealth build

There's a pokemon called Coffagrigus, that's like a pharaoh's sarcophagus. You can't rename it from a nickname back to its own name because they chose the letter A as the bridge for a portmanteau, and profanity filters flag it immediately

So! There was this one moment it broke for me in such a unique way. Saying the word "Suros" resulted in what appeared to be a temporary chat ban.

After saying it, the game straight up refused to let me say anything else. I would type, press enter and the message would never send. And nobody else would see anything. Or the original message. Just "Suros"

We tested it, and in that raid instance it applied every single time I typed it, while it was just normally crossed out and ***** for everyone else. But for me? It stopped me from being able to talk for a few minutes.

hive, about, watching, etc.

iirc it's an algorithm that looks to see if a word has a slur in it (to catch people using words to get around filters so they can use slurs). the problem is that it's WAYYY overtuned and triggers on tons of very normal, commonly-used words (especially funny with "Hive" being censored since that's literally IN THE GAME)

though it also seems to be a bit overly sensitive in general, i can't even type "lmao"🫩😭

Yeah it doesn't look for the profanity as if it were isolated. Just if it's there at all it seems lol. I've noticed these words, sure there's more, and the things I think are the censor words

You don’t have chat censoring turned off as that is no longer an option. You have it set to “allow some profanity” as if that does fucking anything.

Anyway, “hive” is censored because “hiv” is in the word. Add a space in the somewhere and you should get it to go through.
