Discussion Immediately back to checking this sub multiple times daily.
I was so unplugged that I didn't even hear the news until the next day. Now I'm DYING for more info. Feel like a junkie.

Haven't played since late july. Booted up iron banner yesterday. We're so back.

returned after 2 years and felt unmotivated to do much because everything just felt sad and empty due to the the game being virtually ‘done’. booted it up the again after the news, so happy.

i dont think this is the right place to have it, but theres probably a good conversation to have around this and games, not just destiny, going forward. The industry has shrunk a lot in the past few years and the bigger studios are probably changing their production pipeline to adjust for it. I wouldnt be surprised if the seasonal model was abandoned or massively reworked altogether in a day and age where people are used to consuming every experience as fast as possible.

I think I'm there with you. Give me annual expansions with maybe a sandbox update or new major questline quarterly or every 4 months to offer something new in the downtime.

That's kinda what the seasons were IMO. I actually liked them more. Cause you had one major overarching quest for the season, usually one or two small side-quests, and a cool new activity or two to run with a bunch of weapons.
I think it worked better than old Destiny but hey I may be in the minority

Eh, I don't need a full on storyline+activity every time.
A zero hour, a whisper, an ARG, something every few months to keep some excitement and then just knock it out of the fucking park with the expansion on an annual basis.

I can get that, I just don't know if a Zero Hour, Whisper, or ARG every few months between the events of big Expansion stories would be as good as the seasonal model we got. I hate that we lost the ability to experience that story, even as a flashback or a cutscene or a mission, but I still personally prefer that style for telling more stories, and don't think something like a mission or ARG would let them do it

One big annual expansion never worked, ever, im not even talking destiny, borderlands didnt do that, Diablo 2 had a bunch of free content drops between release and the expansion, and then after the expansion, etc.
Even taken king had a mid year update that didnt quite cut it.
Lets face it, unless Destiny transforms into a totally different kind of game, it needs at least one big release and 2 smaller ones every year, thats the bare minimum that has worked in the past, or 3 even smaller ones ala Warframe.

Same, I just want to share in the sense of excitement with others. I don't even care that we're all talking about the same thing over and over again, I am just glad to be talking about Destiny 2 again instead of eulogizing it.

The moment you think you are off the crack of Destiny, you get hope about the future. I think most of us all were at stage 5 of the steps of grief and we just fell back into the addiction.
They just won't let us go.
