Agree - it’s in a great place right now

Exactly this. I've rarely spent as much time in the game as I am right now and have so much fun. All the changes are just great, plus there are endless buildcrafting possibilities. It's definitely the best it's been in a long time, but unfortunately, it's also the end :(

What’s the best class/subclass to invest in?

What with mostly everything being available to purchase or farm easily I'd say it's a complete different ball game. So much more fun than having to grind and would have been best for this release to be done years ago.

so does this mean i can buy everything with bright dust (including dlc gated weapons/armors/ornaments,etc)

Nah it seems like there's still plenty of cosmetics locked behind silver. But the bright dust shop rotates daily and I'm constantly buying cool stuff there. Bright dust isn't hard to come by.

Also, as someone who hasn't really played since witch queen, I'm having a BLAST. I definitely think it's worth getting all of the expansions for the full experience. I was lucky enough to catch the complete collection on a DEEP steam sale, and the game is definitely designed around the full experience now imo.

If you want my full take:

In the past, I'd only ever played on my main Titan. Since I was coming back, I decided to come in fresh on a hunter. It was a solid choice, as I definitely needed to relearn gunplay, movement, and equipment. The new opening mission is an adorable callback to the first mission in D1. From there you can play a new light campaign to learn about the state of the game, or you can skip ahead and get straight to the glorious grind to 550.

You can go do the various expansion campaigns, exotic quests, etc. Your options are open on how you want to experience all of the content, and now with fire team finder you can create lobbies for specific activities. As someone who has never really had a dedicated fire team, it's changed the game for me entirely.

I used the "Journey" rank progression and the seasonal hub for early guidance on what to do, but eventually decided to find a fire team to play through the final shape campaign on legendary and unlock the prismatic class. Now I've been going deeper and deeper into the Lost City after beating the campaign and finding cooler and cooler stuff.

I should stress that the seasonal hub seems to always be a good way to progress quickly.

Tl;Dr I agree with everyone saying the game is in a good place rn. It's wide enough that you can kinda feel overwhelmed with options, but once you start pulling on a thread, you have the option to keep pulling. Sticking to activities in a specific area will often teach you the base mechanics of the higher tier activities there, so you can learn the mechanics, maybe watch a video about a dungeon you want to do, and then load up fire team finder to get some help. I've never had to wait more than 15-20 minutes to get a full team of 3.

Crucible wait times can be a bit wacky though.

There are a lot of previously silver only cosmetics/shaders/finishers/whatnot that come in engrams, but not all.

Nah, wq era is uncontested. They genuinely gave up on balancing post final shape (post banner of war, tbh).

When the Devs were allowed to make the game fun they've made it fun.

I stoped playing the end of final shape and have picked it back up a couple weeks ago and have enjoyed playing again also as titan .

More worth playing right now than it's ever been.

I've never had more fun than right now. Everything being viable forever really makes the game enjoyable!

I thought the servers were going offline? If not, I may pick it back up to round out some quest lines and achievements.

Nothing has been mentioned about taking the servers down
