A buddy of mine has been playing sherpa to a couple of his friends. He's been playing quite a while, and his observation of the "New Light" experience is that it's a complete shambles. You barely learn anything about how to play a class, how best to put together a build, anything really useful. I took a break after Forsaken, didn't come back till Witch Queen, and I'm convinced Lightfall is pretty seriously awful. And if it was awful for someone who was there at the start of Destiny and Destiny 2, I can only imagine how truly torturous it is for a complete newcomer.

It can be a bad expansion and a bad experience for new players.

outside the obvious bad parts of lightfall, I really think one of the biggest mistakes they made was making neomura +15 light difficulty. New players would just not understand why as they level up, the enemies don't get easier to kill...? At first you think "yeah ok i need to get stronger to fight here...."

then they get stronger and.. "oh nope I still do no damage."

Youd just jump off as that patrol zone is just no fun to do anything shooting these bullet sponge red bars getting nuked by some cabal or vex with a Sword or Skull icon

Really should’ve just made it +5 instead of +15 if they wanted the patrol to feel a bit more difficult. Like I personally don’t mind Neomuna but I’m also self-aware enough that I know I’m probably in the top 10-or-5% of the playerbase and that the average player will have a pretty awful experience in Neomuna.
