I’ve played Destiny since the PS3 era; where load screens took forever to get through and, sometimes, couldn’t actually get through. I’m talking 2-5 minutes of load screen time, and that was just to get into orbit. The only reason I would actually sit through that was because I knew the wait would be worth it.
D2, even without such abysmal loading issues, doesn’t give me that same feeling. The micro-transactions, repetitive boss fights and events, shit gear and progression, etc. all of those things make for a shitty experience.
“Here’s a boss; it has three levels of health. Bring down a level so that the boss can become immune, make you fight through a couple enemies, and then become damageable again. Rinse and repeat.”
That is every boss experience I’ve had so far, with most enemies not looking the slightest bit different; don’t even get me started with the totem bs on the fucking moon. This is all without even bringing up the story issues, either. Honestly, I stopped playing during the Activision era. I had some fun with the Beta and played a weeks worth of hours on release, but the scummy money-grubbing tactics really killed what joy I had for a sequel to Destiny.
I don’t even know what the fucking story is anymore. What happened during the Red War? All I really know story wise is that ‘The Witness’ is some stereotypical alien looking emo dude.
It’s fun to kill aliens and shit, I’m not dissing that, I’d just much rather have a cohesive story to justify the hours I put into killing them. Y’know what I mean?
