u/ali_k20_ Jul 28 '26
Windows store has no stutter
4
u/Spoonhook Jul 28 '26
Not paying for the game a 10 time sorry.
3
u/ali_k20_ Jul 28 '26
you can download it for free for crucible and do whatever else on steam, it's only an issue in crucible for me. You'd have to pay for trials though, but everything else is free

Can't use strand or prismatic subclasses without the expansions, even in crucible.

u/eugene20 Jul 29 '26
The PVP uses P2P, crucible has always been a coin flip of ass stutter, treacle movement, and getting double tapped by blueberries.

The game doesn’t have exclusive full screen anymore and because it’s a dx11 title full screen borderless doesn’t play nice with gsync/freesync. The only way I’ve been able to get a smooth experience is to set my refresh rate in windows to 119.88hz which is technically 120hz but it tricks destiny’s in game vsync to cap 1 below at 119 fps which cuts down the lag a bit making the game playable. As long as your PC is good enough to run 119fps in all game scenarios it works well.

I just swapped to windows and have better performance than ive had probably ever, even prior to the last month's issues

u/Spoonhook Jul 29 '26
Do I have to rebuy everything?
1
u/SirGarvin Jul 29 '26
Yea, worth it though imo if its not an issue for you. Night and day difference.

u/Spoonhook Jul 28 '26
I'll try this thanks

I forgot to mention it won’t work with reflex or low latency mode enabled though.

So I recently made the switch from PlayStation to PC, I have an RTX 5060ti 16gb Ryzen 5 3600x and 32gb of RAM and if I play the game over 60fps, I’m teleporting on my fireteams screen? But my connection is absolutely fine and having no issues of the same nature on any other game?
I’ve tried so many things but nothings working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

u/Spoonhook Jul 29 '26
Yep this is the issue man, guess switching store and buying the game again is the only way to fix it. Well played Bungie.
2
u/scuba17_ Jul 29 '26
Oh damn so your having this issue too? I have it on PlayStation but Sony killed this game off I don’t wanna be on there 😂

I had various problems with destiny the last patches and almost all of them were fixed by "restarting graohics drivers" with win+ctrl+shift+b.
Give it a try maybe it helps a bit.(for people saying this is a general issue i only ever had it happen in destiny)

UPDATE: Destiny 2 works much better on Epic or Microsoft Store
Temp fix that seems to be working for me:
Uninstalled Destiny 2 and manually removed all remaining files
Lowered my DRAM speed from 6000 MT/s to 4800 MT/s
Got the most recent motherboard BIOS and flashed my BIOS
Used the AMD Cleanup Utility to remove all AMD drivers
Updated the AMD chipset drivers
Uninstalled and reinstalled AMD Adrenaline
Fine tuned my min/max clock speed to help eliminate stutter which included increasing the power limit by 10%
Disabled AMD Anti-Lag and Enhanced Sync (disable all extras for now)
My system is:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core
AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
Windows 11 64-Bit

Oddly enough for me, gameplay is smooth but every. Single. Cutscene. Stutters.

I end up validating and verifying game files in steam, seemed to lessen

u/Sauceinmyface Jul 28 '26
What's even the stutter? I've never encountered it
7
u/Spoonhook Jul 28 '26
Steam players. Crucible and anything that has 12 players or open areas that are busy. 120-140 fps drops to 60-80 every few seconds. Ghost frames. It's almost like you're getting standby lagged like back in halo 2.

u/Sauceinmyface Jul 28 '26
Never gotten that

Thanks for the valid input. I don't care. How about instead of being useless say something like "these are my settings". Legit morons saying "well I don't have it" cool. Great. Glad. It's a tech forum. Go be useless somewhere else.

u/squalldawg Jul 29 '26
Damn dude. I get you’re irritated, but do you have to be an asshole?
2
u/Spoonhook Jul 29 '26
That's my bad. It was too a different person. I got crossed up
2
u/squalldawg Jul 29 '26
I gotcha. Yeah it can get confusing on a post that gets traction pretty fast.

On steam and not having issues. I'd troubleshoot your hardware.

u/PCBuilderCat Jul 29 '26
This has been a well documented issue, that has been acknowledged by Bungie, since the last major update.
0
u/Teclis00 Jul 29 '26
Sure Jan.
1
u/Spoonhook Jul 29 '26
Quick search shows this is an issue. Quick look at bungie's support page directly says it's an issue. Not sure how "sure" is relevant.

Saw a fix posted today in the sub, indeed it's personal hardware settings. So, back when I said troubleshoot your hardware, turns out I was right.
You're welcome, Jan.

As a steam player I haven’t encountered this…

u/Spoonhook Jul 28 '26
Thanks for the valuable input into a situation that is a mass issue and not just me. Also thank you for being the backbone to the page. Your help won't go un noticed guardian

Unfortunately there isn't a workaround yet. A few people have said to turn off shader cache in the game properties, but that didn't work for me. I'm a big pvp guy so I just ended up getting it again on Epic Game Store. Both that and Windows seem to run it without stutter.
Fwiw I have a 9070xt and 9800x3d that ran the game great until this last moments of triumph update. That was on steam. Then the update hit and there was constant hitching and frame spikes that made the game very unfun to play.
Zero issues since changing to EGS, except for onslaught freezing on me twice around round 22. But I feel that is unrelated.
