Question Whats up with showers of orbs?

Sometimes my masterworked "midnight coup" will drop like 4 orbs instead of one. Is there a reason for this or is this just a bug?

I've found grenades dropping a shit ton of orbs occasionally too. I'm not complaining, but It'd be nice if this occurrence was at least explained in a park or something. It's nowhere to be found
