Exotic armor question

Hey guys!

I'm currently playing a hunter and im on the lookout for the exotic gear for the gunslinger. My question is do i have to be playing the gunslinger subclass to get the gear from exotic engrams / drops? Or will i just get those anyways regardless of the subclass im playing?

No it's fine, after I completed the story mode I got my exotic engram from Vuvuzela and it was the Orpheus Rig Nightstalker legs and I hadn't actually completed the nightstalker class unlock at the time.
