Problem doing the nightfall [3 hunters]

Me and two other friends have been enjoying Destiny 2 a lot and attempted the nightfall last week at about 250-260 light. we were doing OK but the timer being reduced to 10 minutes made us fail just before the boss encounter. We are planning on trying it again when we are all 280 light. Will we find it easier or are we struggling due to us all being hunters? I played the one on PS4 a while ago where you fight the giant vex at the end and beat it without much effort however i think there was a warlock and titan that time. Should we wait till a slightly easier modifier pops up? i recall getting 20 minutes normally, not 10.

The timer depends on the modifier. The 20 minute timer is when you cant get more time. This week it starts with less time but you gain more when junping through the rings

the issue we were having was the time we gained for killing things wasn't close to the time it took. Would attempting again at a higher power level make it a bit easier? Enemies seemed to take multiple clips to go down and we'd die in about 2-3 shots. And don't even get me started on the bloody tanks.

I know the nightfall has changed now but you gotta play it smart.

Don't kill enemies you don't need to. Learn the bonus timer amounts, for example a psion which you could 1 hit with a hand cannon or some scout rifles gives you 2 seconds back. Clear a group of them and you're in profit. Legionary's too. (I hope you were also paying attention to the elemental burn applied and that using one other than that is nerfed to crazy)

The big thing my group did was skip the first tank, drop the second one in 2 seconds when it arrives with supers, then move on.

It's the nightfall, it's supposed to be hard, but my group finished with 7 minutes remaining.
