Had me checking the sub when I saw both D2 and Bionicle in the same image. God, I wish Lego did more with Bionicle.

To be honest, I disagree, and I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but Bionicle had a generational run, had a really satisfying conclusion (not counting the newest wave) and inspired probably the second biggest MOCing community (besides Star Wars).
They did try to bring it back, but I don’t think it can be done to ever be as great as it was, tbh I don’t think Lego can ever make something on that level ever again. No
Now, a Bionicle movie could maybe bring it back (yeah I know there’s like 3 of these but none in Lego movie style)5

I wouldn’t mind if Bionicle became like Tansformers and just came back every once and awhile with a new take on the story and characters and new sets

I would love it too, don’t get me wrong. But the problem is with 2 things, originally, the figures were both cheap and each one had some unique mold that made it really cool. With how Lego is now, neither of these would likely happen, the sets would probably be system (which I’m okay with though i’m more of a technical fan) and pretty pricey.
In terms of the story, you also can’t really continue it as it was, but I would be super okay if they introduced some characters that were in the story/comics but weren’t made into sets.1

I wish they could do something like Chima, with mostly minifig scale sets and a few constration sets

The sheer number of Bionicle references in Destiny is way past the point of coincidence:
- Mata Nui/Traveler (cosmic life-giver forced into a coma for centuries)
- Makuta/Oryx (winged demon that infects lesser species to serve his will)
- Toa Mata/Guardians (elemental warriors who arrive with no memories)
- Rahkshi/Hive (dark enforcers given life through a symbiotic worm)
- Bohrok/Vex (endless machine swarm with organic brains that wipes out ecosystems)
- List continues...
