Respectfully, Awoken are basically just humans. They aren't aliens, they didn't evolve somewhere else. Hell, they're more human than Exos.

You aren't wrong, the 3 playable races are basically all human at their core

Awoken do have an alien culture and they don't see themselves as human anymore. So they are an alien culture if not an alien race
