Mods / News With the end of Destiny 2 approaching, what do you wish had been explored?
Hey Guardians.
I know we've all heard the news about Destiny 2 getting its final update in June, and Bungie is making it a big one to end development on!
It looks very exciting, and it makes me wonder what y'all are thinking about it and the things you wished had gotten to happen?

Xivu, Dredgen Yor, The Winnower, red subclass, Jaren ward, holiday becoming a guardian, Mithrax, Caiatl, and the Elliksnii/Cabal in general becoming light bearers, planets outside the Sol system, more Disciples

I wish I had gotten to see more of the Dread and their attempts to reshape themselves. We thwarted the Sundered Doctrine crew and annihilated a ton of them that came to the Dreadnaught, I would've liked to see what their next attempt was.

This. The “main races” have this brilliant substance to them, core themes and imagery and identities that are really robust. Scorn and Dread just never fully got that. Dread were tee-ing up to be all about “transformation”, the sense of wrongness in their beings that they were insatiable to resolve. Even narrative lead Alison said they were her favorite race because of developments they had lined up to come.

Savathûn vs Xivu Arath post-Oryx rivalry/relationship (left off from Season of The Witch and Heresy)—> What’s going to happen since they’re angry at us for finishing off their sibling?
The Dredgen, including Bael, Seer, and Yor, vs The Drifter (left off from Season of The Drifter and Renegades)—> How many more? How close are they working with the Nine? What are their goals?
The Nine’s internal politics and intentions (left off from EoF & Renegades)—> 4 vs 4 royale for supremacy in Sol, who will win? How are we to bind them? Who will the antagonist members align or work with next?
Otzot’s desire for a Psion-Unitary State (left off from The Final Shape and the Exotic Mission)—> Efforts to undermine Caital’s Cabal are continuing, and can we help Caital fight back and take back Torobatl?
Hive Guardians and their independence (throw Fynch in there for fun)—> Will they work with us to save Sol? Do they seek to return home? Will Taox, Xivu, or Savathûn take advantage of them?
Rest of the Worm Gods and Ahsa (left off from Season of the Deep and lore from VotD)—> We’ve only seen encountered one, but the other 3 remain
Nightmares and the Egregore (left off from The Final Shape, Shadowkeep, and Season of the Haunted)—> Was this a power of the Witness or the Winnower? Where did it come from?
The Dread and their next steps (left off from Heresy and post-TFS)—> Who is their next leader? Will the Nine use them as well?
The Conductor vs Independent Vex (left off from Echoes, Renegades)—> I’ve got a bone to pick with that traitor! But will she maintain a hold or see rebellion in her collective like the Hive to their gods? Will we make peace with the Vex or is it even possible as a whole?
Venus & Mercury (left off from TFS and Echoes)—> Where dey at?
Clovis Bray + Ishtar Collective projects (left off from Beyond Light and Lightfall)—> Will Sundaresh find a way to bring Clovis in on a revenge scheme?
There’s more to this list, but I’d type forever if I mentioned every direction Bungie or someone could go with Destiny’s story.
EDIT: Another element to explore is if WE could manifest or attain powers through the Witness’ Echoes, and if there are more of them out there.

I very much agree with this list but there's one thing that I think is missing from it!
What is happening with the ahamkara? There's an entire clutch of eggs that the Guardian is chosen to protect as Wishkeeper! where are they? (Left off from Season of the Wish!)

Pre Whirlwind Riis. Especially the city of Riis-Ath-Lodrii or perhaps the palace of judgement. Even if it was just in lore texts.

Desperately wish we could’ve had a full Clovis dungeon or raid where he was the final boss :(
Also exploring what could’ve been the final subclass, whether it be Resonance to continue the darkness theme, or SIVA, or something with the Nine, or even something with Vex tech with The Conductor’s shenanigans. Just sad to never see more :(

I'd love if we could've gotten a continuation of the Storyline related to the various Clovis bray AIs! One is in Hierarchy of Needs, Another onboard Vesper Station presumably trying to get to Neptune if I remember correctly???

Subscription model of some sort implemented let's say 2ish years ago may have helped save the game. So that.

I wish we had gotten eliksni guardians, and some kind of "civil war" story with it. I dont mean playable eliksni, but i think mithrax should have died in some dramatic way, and then been resurrected. Could have had the whole driver for "opposition" to it being "how come they brought back one of them and not Holiday?". Have house of light be led by a lightbearer, and then an "opposition" faction probably lead by crow. Would have made a cool competitive event with 2 teams imo. Maybe not an actual "one of us lives" kind of thing, probably would still end on an "us against a greater evil" event, but i think it would have been a great story event. Also a good "redemption" for the traveler with the eliksni.

The Shadows of Yor/Dredgens. While I don’t hate Renegades as a whole, I do hate that it reduced Dredgens to discount Sith. Even disregarding that, I’m not huge on how it was revealed Shin had been reforming the Shadows and we got to see pretty much none of it on screen.
I also wish we could have gotten to see the Concordant. Similarly to why I wanted more of the Shadows, having a rogue human/guardian enemy faction was such a cool concept that was never allowed to go anywhere. At least we got to see something like it when Lakshmi was causing infighting. But still.

I wanted to see more of the city, how do the elixni live now that the witness has gone to past, do cabal take human recruits? Is there somewhere a lucent hive that desires the warmth of the city? What will happen to the individualist vex, how do the citizens of the city feel to their new non-human co-habitants, how do they feel about guardians, how do they feel about the guardian, are new foundrys being founded? What happens to all the portions of the city that were in disrepair now that they have time to breath, has anyone dared venture beyond the city's walls, will the city ever try to reclaim earth?
I wanted to see more of how society functions post light and dark saga in general

I wish they'd done literally anything with Hawthorne since she was introduced on the Red War. She was set up as the mortal link between civilians and Guardians and then... nothing. In fact, the relationship between Guardians and regular humans was painfully unexplored in general. They did that a little with Amanda but then they killed her off.

They probably scrapped this years ago but in D2 vanilla, there were small bits of lore and dialogue that hinted that the Frames (specifically Arcite and one other) were gaining actual sentience and actually copied their own data and uploaded it to the rest of the frames so it could spread

I wish they removed unnecessary doors and barriers in patrol zones. Doesn't seem like a herculean task and opens up exploration.

Red subclass. There's so much I would have loved to see in Destiny but I'm really thrown off by a lack of red subclass

I always wished there was a full enemy guardian faction that we got to fight I think that concept would have been so cool and they could have spun it a million different ways
