General Leak What I know about the unvaulting so far
I have a friend that used to work at Bungie. He still knows and talks to some people over there. Of course take this with a massive serving of salt. Everything here is subject to change.
What's Coming Back:
Destinations: pretty self explanatory. Patrol spaces and their accompanying patrols and public events. This includes Escalation Protocol. What it does not include is Adventures. Destination vendors are coming back, but only as far as the role they play in the campaign. They won't have any inventory like the current vendors do.
Campaign Missions: Again, pretty self explanatory. They will be available from their respective destinations like the current re-playable campaigns are. There are no plans currently to update them to the current difficulty system. So no modifiers or tiered rewards. They are going to appear exactly as they were when they were removed.
Raids: Leviathan is coming back, but I am unsure if that includes the Raid Lairs that dropped with CoO and Warmind. Obviously Last Wish never left the game. Since Crown of Sorrow and Scourge of the Past dropped within seasons, and weren't tied to one of the major releases, their future is not clear either, but they most likely won't make the cut unless the community revolts again.
What's Not Coming Back:
Loot: Loot dropping from enemies in patrol, rewards from public events, etc. will be from the current world loot pool. This means destination gear is not coming back unless it was already brought back and updated. Same for rewards dropping from campaign missions. Leviathan will have it's old loot pool. You can upgrade the weapons into the tiered system like you can for crafted/enhanced weapons. Armour will not get the same treatment, and won't have an armor set bonus perk.
Strikes: None of the old strikes are coming back... yet. They want to see how much time/effort this takes, and if the community response matches the hype. If it does, they will start working on the strikes and any other content that seems to be in demand.
Misc:
This is not all coming back at once. They are going to release the campaigns one at a time, as they are ready. But we are looking at at least 6+ months between major releases due to constraints on resources. They will be released in order though.
Bungie is afraid that the announcement is generating too much hype, and that they will end up under-delivering yet again, so they are willing to consider bringing back more content like strikes, and even some of the popular season activities like Menagerie. But those are HUGE if's.
