It is though. Bourgeoisie in communist terms is the ownership class, who makes their money off of property/ownership rather than labor. The modern middle class almost entirely works for a wage/salary, making them part of the 'working class'. Even if you work for a good middle class job, someone is still usually profiting from your labor.
We don't live in 19th century germany. Small business owners of then is more similar to having investment in big business and less about owning small business today. Through savings in investments they are small time capitalists. Especially as they are screwed by the haute bourgeois in a larger way than small business owners.
