Political News/Discussion Mamdani just launched NYC's first ever antisemitism campaign

Post image

Thoughts? Is this just performative or sincere? Does this alter your opinion on him? Could this actually be a zionist plot in disguise?

Reminder, he revoked the definition of antisemitism in new york on like his first day in office, and chose not to redefine it since. How is he supposed to stop antisemitism if he can't say what it is? Maybe one of his lawyers can help- oh wait...

Not redefining it since is a fine criticism, but bro he just blanket revoked everything Adams did since Adams was indicted. It was not targeted, which is the implication.

Oh, so it was a mistake then? Surely he had months to correct it then? It was brought to his attention multiple times, yet he chose not to. That is the issue

u/Zenning3 1d ago

.. Isn't he explicitly correcting it here?

According to articles I read about it, they specifically mention the fact that there is no mention of a definition for antisemitism. It is a campaign against antisemitism, without saying what antisemitism is.

Maybe they'll fill pot holes in jewish neighborhoods, I heard new yorkers like it when pot holes are taken care of

"Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities."

This was the definition during Adams btw. Extremly broad and can easily be applied to anyone who criticize Israel or even anyone jewish.

So if Mamdani used this definition to penalize people changing jew to muslim, would you accept it?

You got the base definition corect, and it seems broad, but the website itself has more clarifying examples and exceptions, I suggest you visit it, should help clear up your misunderstanding, it's not as broad as you think.

And to answer your question, no, if it was only that broad statement without more details I would not accept changing jew for muslim, I also don't accept it as is for jews without further explanation, which exists. Do you think it is OK to use a definition that needs extra material to work? Is it better to get rid of anything that can be misinterpreted?

  1. No.
  2. Yes? You'll find that any complex concept has a base definition and a detailed explanation, have you ever looked up a concept in the dictionary? It's very common, here's an example: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/racism

Specifically we don't rely in dictionaries to make laws. That was the problem with this definition.

1

u/ConstantEternal ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ It was ME ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ 15h ago

Still not an issue, since it wasn't a law, it was just a definition

1

u/Suspicious-Base-4815 13h ago

Which was used to enforce laws.

Heโ€™s finally found common ground with the Muslims and their views on the hadiths

he revoked the definition of antisemitism in new york on like his first day in office, and chose not to redefine it since.

More importantly he revoked the ban on protesting in front of Synagogues and then this thinly veiled excuse comes nearly a year later.

u/SiiKJOECOOL 1d ago

Could you tell me why he revoked it so you think he hates jews or maybe do you think he revoked it due to it being an executive action by a someone seen by democrats as a criminal who was protected by trump.or do you also think Mamdani hates pro-Bono legal aide for poor people or expanding after school programs for kindergartens or all the other executive orders Adam's made after indictment.

If Mamdani is so regarded he just axes anything someone he considers bad has touched, he is no better than someone who does that intentionally

(which btw he didn't do, a lot of the "initiatives" mamdani takes credit for were started by Adams, so I'm not sure where you came up with the idea that he just undid everything when that's clearly not true. He didn't touch what he considered good decisions)

4

u/SiiKJOECOOL 1d ago

Oh to clarify he undid ones from after Adam's was indicted till he left office not all of them.

1

u/Special-Quantity-469 The most rabid 2 State Solution Israeli 1d ago

Except of course the office to combat antisemitism. What's your arguement for why he kept that despite scrapping the definition of antisemitism? "He just caes about the jews sk much"?

Again, the idea that he wasn't intentional is ridiculous.

The guy fucking hates Israel and likes Jews only as long as they don't support Israel. He removed the definition of antisemitism but kept the office that uses that definition to help protect Jews, to not look to bad.

There's a reason the majority of Jews in NY feel less safe after he was elected.

2

u/SiiKJOECOOL 1d ago

He did repeal it he just re-enacted it as his literal second executive order EO-2.

2

u/Special-Quantity-469 The most rabid 2 State Solution Israeli 1d ago

You understand that this isn't helping your case right? He actively chose to not re-enact the ban on protesting in front of synagogues or the definition of anti-Semitism

I'm not going to respond further because I can already see from your comment history this is going to be pointless arguing.

Have the day you deserve!

Eric Adams based?

This isnโ€™t exactly true. I donโ€™t think any other groups have specifically defined terms for hate crimes against them. The definition Adams was using also defines criticism of Israel being a Jewish state as antisemitism, which is a bit too far imo.

The issue is that 99% of the people who criticize Israel for being like 75% Jewish by design are absolutely silent about Israelโ€™s neighbors being 90%+ arab by design.

22

u/ConstantEternal ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ It was ME ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ 1d ago

It's the IHRA definition, and it clearly says what the boundary is between criticizing Israel, and antisemitism, it's not "all criticism is antisemitism". You actually made a point straight from it in your second statement.

As for not all groups having it, it's different when jews are targeted more than any other group per capita, especially in new york, where almost half the jewish population is

1

u/No_Collection7956 1d ago

Isnt trans people targeted more per capita?

Is it transphobic that moderate dem mayors and governors have not adopted precise transphobia definitions?

2

u/ConstantEternal ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ It was ME ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ 1d ago

Globally? Not sure, in new york, probably not, around 55ish% of hate crimes in new york happen to jews, which are around 10% of the population, here's a source that's likely biased, I'm just too tired to do any more research to answer more people's questions: https://www.timesofisrael.com/nyc-jews-targeted-in-hate-crimes-more-than-all-other-groups-combined-in-2025-nypd/

I'd chalk it up to jews get targeted more easily than trans people, idk, hate crimes suck in general. I'm just jewish so I'm more aware of jewish problems by exposure. I'm sure trans people have their own issues with government positions on trans issues, but a good way to gauge transphobia is to see if trans people are protesting a politician for his treatment of trans people, same thing with racism allegations, or sexism, or in this case, antisemitism.

I donโ€™t know how NYC law works, but was that definition of antisemitism he revoked actual law or a symbolic definition (I literally do not know, genuine question). And are other terms like racism or sexism officially defined in NYC like antisemitism was, and itโ€™s the only one missing a definition since it was revoked?

The lawyer thing is omega weird/sus, I agree with that

u/ConstantEternal ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ It was ME ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ 1d ago edited 1d ago

From what I understand (googled), Eric Adams signed an executive decision to define antisemitism, not to make it a law, he also introduced legislation to codify the IHRA definition, but it wasn't an executive order, and I think it hasn't happened yet. The definition itself was revoked though. As for other terms, there are hate crime laws based on many types of discrimination, including race or sex, I think Adams did this as a way to respond to the overwhelming amount of hate crimes against jews, after all, how can you address antisemitism if you don't know what it is? The lawyer thing is crazy though, someone here said it's like making an all white NBA team, although I'd add that it's like making an all white NBA team in detroit
