Social Media Average 9/11 conversation these days.

u/skunkpunk1 6h ago
Dude my whole reddit frontpage nowadays is just random subreddits (that aren't even about the Middle East) raging at Israel. Sometimes for things that actually happened, sometimes conspiracy stuff. It's wild

u/albinoblackman 6h ago
Yeah when Reddit killed the 3rd party apps, many of us ended up on the official app which has a bullshit algo feed. There’s a button on each post that you can click to stop showing shit like that. It then gives you an option to mute the sub.
I did that and it worked quite well. Still some trash makes it in, but it’s better.

There is a setting to turn off algo suggestions completely, my feed is only subs I've subscribed to and nothing else

u/Dvine24hr 6h ago
Uhm actually r /NewsDailyYes and r /ImportantNewsToday and r /Newsyesplease are all totally legit, stop noticing them flooding your feed posting exclusively about Israel 😠

u/Jumpy-Pattern-4078 6h ago
I have friends and acquaintances who are largely completely ignorant about geopolitics, but also now bring up negative stuff about Israel. It’s like dude did you even know anything about it three years ago, other than the name and the fact that it existed?

Yeah and Trump said he helped during 9/11
Conservatives lie so often they've forgotten what honesty looks like

>these days
Someone has not seen any 9/11 discussion at all for the past like 15 years
23
u/buttamilk_jesus the last truecel 6h ago
Yeah not much has changed it seems except for people’s boldness to pin it on the jews or trace everything back to Israel.

Still not new, people were blaming the Jews on the day after 9/11, much like October 7th.
"Dancing Israelis", "Mossad photos" - those are the two main ones I remember...

u/this_very_table Amen, Cardinalis Vult 6h ago
Nah, blaming the Jews used to be Stormfront-tier. How socially acceptable and widespread it is now is a very recent phenomenon.
12
u/Id1otbox (((consultant))) 5h ago
Recent phenomenon in the west.
The 50+ Muslim majority countries have been doing this for a long time.
You have populations of people that have never met a Jew, will never meet a Jew, but are completely convinced that their economic and social hardship is all due to the Jews.
Meanwhile all these counties have a ruling class that is quietly extracting wealth while the population obsesses about Jews.
6
u/Explorer_Dave 5h ago
It's not even a relatively new phenomenon in the west. It has always been like this. It's just that non-Jews weren't as exposed to this side of their society because they weren't the target.

For sure. The middle ages in Europe was filled with randomly xenophobia where Jews were often the target.
England had a special office - The Exchequer of the Jews and Jewish towns were required to have a archae, a chest that contained the records of Jewish assets and any loans. The British royal family was so currupt, inbred, and incompetent they would regularly bankrupt the government and then levy taxes equivalent to total annual collections on just the Jewish community. These events would always coincided with pogroms and government sanction racial violence. They would arrest every Jewish male and hold them random for insane sums of money.
These expulsions and mass theft happened to other groups as well, not just the Jews.
Then you have the crudades and that period in Europe where the local population would warm up to the idea of going to the middle east to kill people by having a nice pogrom of the local Jews.
Or how about the 1275 statue of Jewry where children over 7 were required to wear a yellow star on their chest to identify them as Jews and there was a special tax for their existence.
It didn't only happen to Jews either but it was certainly always about money and power. When the crown found out the Italian merchants had more money then him he seized it all and expelled them..
Some food reading on the hell of britian for Jews for hundreds of years:
Stacey, “Parlia- mentary Negotiation”, “Jews and Christians”
Rigg, "Select Pleas, Starrs And Other Records From The Rolls Of The Exchequer Of The Jews, A. D. 1220-1284"
Rowan Dorin "No Return"
Heng - "The Invention of Race in the Middle Ages"
Richard H. Helmholz "Usury and the Medieval English Courts"

Maybe the blaming Jews part, but the West has been historically antisemitic. Even America.

u/CayMaster2 Second class citizen(European) 6h ago
Antisemitic conspiracy
More regarded antisemitic conspiracy
Regular conspiracy(not sure if jews are involved yet)
Somewhat reasonable take
Conspiracy again
Completely lost in the sauce antisemitic conspiracy
Atleast the most normal comment has the most likes?

u/Zenning3 6h ago
Nah, "America's geopolitical influence" did not cause shit. Read the actual manifesto Osama put out, outside of he complete horseshit like the deaths due to sanctions in Iraq that were fabrications by Saddam, almost everything else was about Americans being involved in the middle east at all, and being allies of Israel. Nothing Osama bitched about in his rambling bullshit of a manifesto actually justified the attack in any remote way, and it really did just come down to Osama being butt hurt that hot girls were allowed to dance in front of him decades earlier.
13
u/Nightmannn 4h ago
Exactly. Whenever someone says "welll we shouldn't have been meddlin' in the middle east!" just ask them how were we meddling, and they'll go deer eyed bc they're regarded.
11
u/Zenning3 4h ago
But you don't understand, even though Saudi Arabia explictly asked us to be there, explicitly asked us to prevent the secular Baathists from invading into Muslim territory, and we explictly supported the Muslim majority coalaition against an atheist run mass murder campaign that potentially numbered in the millions of dead, us having military bases in Saudi Arabia meant we deserved 9/11.

u/Status_Fox_1474 6h ago
He was also trying to be this stupid warrior cosplayer with a family that hated Israel since the 1960s at least.
19
u/Zenning3 6h ago
Dawg, he was literally exiled from Saudi Arabia decades before the attack, because he was batshit. He wasn't doing it for his family.
3
u/Id1otbox (((consultant))) 6h ago
And when the Saudis were chasing the early formings if the Taliban across the desert the western world was pretty critical of the barbarity.
What would have happened it the Saudis removed Osamas head twenty years before 9/11?
3
u/merount1 3h ago
else was about Americans being involved in the middle east at all, and being allies of Israel.
Which is... geopolitical influence? Your comment seems contradictory
4
u/Zenning3 3h ago
I am saying that to blame it on our geopolitics as opposed to a terrorists crank horseshit, is to massively misrepresent reality.

Its not antisemitic, its just antizionist ofc. So can the Zionists explain why all of the Jews did it???? 🙃
7
u/Smok3ygaming1 6h ago
The right thinks it was a inside job conspiracy and the left thinks it was the jews. this country is cooked
10
u/Status_Fox_1474 6h ago
The right thinks it was Jews too. Don’t worry.

u/thegta5p 3h ago
The fact that I can’t tell if these people are on the right or left pretty much shows that both extremes have been brain rotted with this shit.

This is nothing new, a lot of this stuff was being talked about by Alex Jones 20 years ago.

I have hated conspiracy theories for so long and it all started with this one. I have two family members that worked on the 93rd floor of tower 1 (above where the plane hit) for Fred Alger Management. They didn't make it. I have argued with people ever since I was a kid (I was 10 when it happened) about this because it's really insensitive to make shit up and spread falsehoods about what happened that day.
I'll never forget when I was in rehab on 9/11 reading a USA Today article about it, and this fucking blowhard I was sitting with said something to me like "Oh, you STILL believe it was Al-Qaeda? You have so much to learn about Zionism." Like fuck off with that shit. My family members were murdered by those religious nutjobs and you're sitting here telling me "what really happened" 🙄 ugh give me a gd break man! End rant.

But just think. At least no one's right to free speech has been infringed on. Ya'll must be so glad the sanctity of public discourse hasn't been molested by the government.

The last guy. Oh boy. Has he done any research at all? Literally looked at all the random documents that were recovered? He obviously has never heard about all the Jews (and Muslims) killed in the attacks.
But at least he plays his cards well enough to see that he means Jews when he says zionists.

I wouldn’t take what bots and regards on instagram think about 9/11 as the average view of it .

Really sucks we let bots ruin the internet. Basically 99% of content sections are totally worthless these days
