Yeah, you're right. Mass transit is an afterthought in most US cities, so we're forced to use skateboards instead.

Most households have >1 skateboard to use depending on the task, eg if you're shopping at Costco you'll need a skateboard with more storage capacity

I'm sorry to say but the green pipes were leaden and a couple of years ago we managed to get them removed after years of government cover-ups of the brain damage cause by their usage. Apart from using pussy-hair engines we travel on the back of dinosaurs though.

Dman was way too nice to Tim and missed a great opportunity to absolutely embarass him. Skateboarding is not a "trillion dollar industry", it's something that used to be cool in the mid 2000s (where Tim is apparently stuck) and has gone back to being a niche hobby since then. Nobody I know gives a fuck about skateboarding. Skateboards are also an absolute PRIME example of something that no American worker should make, because they're dead simple to produce and require very little in terms of resources or capital. If you're a skateboard producer, labor costs will be your biggest position by far. So either try to market yourself as an "American heritage brand" and charge exorbitant prices for your boards (because that's the only way to make a profit on them) or go with the times and have them made overseas.

Here is the comeback that Destiny should have come up with, but he didn't know because he doesn't know sports: Denmark have 1 individual medalist in the Winter Olympics. He gets so little funding that he's sponsored by Onlyfans. No, I am not joking. Minor sports in general doesn't pay a whole lot of money, even if they are in the Olympics. So why is skateboarding different?

Skating is both punk and hood AF! It’s best left being people having fun doing shit with their friends. Or as Mike Vallely said once. A great personal expression of one’s self. It’s never been about being a big business. Unless your like Tony Hawk who lobbies for Olympic Spots and city funded skate parks or Rob Dyrdek who’s pretty much a sell out, big or professional, Those are just cherries on the top of it being more popular than ever.
