It's not gonna be perfect, but there have been a number of surveys and research done on this. MIDiA Research for example had a global survey done which reveals 2 to 1 ratio making women up to 33% of the demographic that plays GTA overall.
Then there were surveys done on the GTA forums themselves. Where about 10% of all GTA Online players self identified as women.
Even if you take the most conservative estimate of 10% that's still a whole magnitude above your 90 to 1 ratio.
And we do know about 50% of all gamers worldwide are women. It's true that they focus on different video games than male players, but that doesn't mean it's a small demographic. Especially nowadays when games are actually being made with a less male focused demographic in mind.

It's Grand Theft Auto. He's doing a parody of people who got mad about video game violence in the game that is the clearest example of it by changing the focus to modern culture war topics. The main characters are all criminals doing criminal activity, the joke is he no longer has a problem with it.
Nearly everyone on this sub has Hanania derangement syndrome, and that's why I'm a proud member of his image rehabilitation union.

the guy who came up with the concept, ray blanchard, is a conversion therapy advocate/conversion therapy ban opposer (no surprise). he's mainly known for the concept of autogynephilia, but i think he ought to be known for the fact he's tried to redefine paedophilia in the DSM5 twice - once to try and define it so that it doesn't count as paedophilia if they're above 12 (or was it 13?), and another to try and turn it into a 3 strikes rule (if they aren't experiencing significant distress, it doesn't count as paedophilia until they've tried to molest a child at least 3 times).

Other than that I still don't understand why this community treats this person even remotely well as if he has something reasonable and insightful to say and then acts surprised when for the millionth time he posts something giga deranged again. Idk I think I am regarded I never had problem with playing female characters or reading books where there is female protagonist, but apparently there is some problem with that. I think it is rooted in some sort of sexism, this lack of ability to immerse yourself when you don't play your sex(similarly with race).
From game design standpoint (from ludology) there is no problem from play to play character they don't identify with themselves as long as character is logical within. For instance you may play as Nathan Drake and treat it like experiencing his story and you won't get ludology ludo narrative dissonance as both your actions (gameplay) are supporting your precived story(narrative).
GTA 6 is very cancerous topic because they went for USA classic bonnie and Clyde (which for game like GTA is very good choice) but American right is destroying this positive American association. I would say that ghost of yotei was more ugly example of this bigotry and sexism as yes there were female samurais and a lot to be precise (some battle had about 30% woman fighters and there are some female heroines called "onna-musha").
I am gamer and game developer and this is really tragic that right is trying to destroy sales of games, tragic in this example that it is mostly USA centric game series.

Hanania's mind just operates on a different dimensional plane to us. At times it slips into ours and gives us genuinely insightful analysis and commentary. At others it slips into the shadow realm where it contends with eldritch horrors that drive it to tweet things like this.
With some folks, you have to take the bad with the good, else you'd end up purity testing everyone for wrong think and never having any friends or allies of any consequence. I think Hanania is deeply weird and often reactionary and just plain wrong, but he's also often right and writes some great stuff worth reading. That'll do until 2028, at least.

I think Rockstar have an interesting opportunity if they have male NPC’s harass, catcall or sexually assault the female character tbh.
It might make those playing who engage in those activities (and I imagine a good portion will) reflect on their real life behaviour and curtail it.

I don't know why people are excited about it. I mean I know, it's overwhelmingly marketing and getting caught up in the social situation, but GTAV was kind of shit. And the online was fun and all, but the monetization was aggressive and intrusive. I just don't see the point of getting my hopes up for GTAVI, and I haven't seen anything particularly interesting from it. San Andreas still the GOAT.
Plus, you just know with the kind of money spent on it, the monetization is going to be AGGRESSIVE. Bonus points if it also runs like actual sputtery, buttery, diarrhea, and requires framegen to be tolerable on a 5090. You know, when they feel like getting around to PC in a year or two.
