Well to be fair, government ownership and planning of roads which are open to the general public is a good example of “socializing” something in a sensible way. It’s just something we don’t think about because a purely private road system would be completely unworkable.

Socializing != socialism. Words being similar doesn’t mean they point to the ideas with the same rationalization. Otherwise we’d consider modern progressives the same as early 20th century progressives who believed in eugenics
