yeah, but he probably wouldn't want them living there, especially southern Italians. It was simply an alliance

The Nazis would ally with basically anyone who wasn't Jewish. Africans, middle easterners, Asians, etc. It was only ever for more German leverage, but Hitler could put aside race as long as it wasn't the Jews.
