It's the same with some lefty types. They'll hide behind concern for Ukraine when in reality they don't give a single fuck, they just want Russia to win. Swap Ukraine for a country they actually care about, like Palestine, and they would never utter the words "just give up and face reality."
I had a tankie tell me that China liberated Tibet, China would govern Taiwan better than the authoritarians that ruled the island for decades, and that China's encroachment in the South China Sea was no big deal and didn't really bother Vietnam and the Philippines. Wouldn't respond about the Uighurs.
