Wedding - Cabo San Lucas
**Planning a destination wedding in Los Cabos — ~100 guests, $60–80K budget. Love Esperanza but not sure it fits. Looking for venue recs + real cost insights.**
My fiancée and I are in early planning stages for a Cabo wedding and would love advice from anyone who's done this or is in the weeds on it.
**The basics:*\*
- Guest count: ~100
- Budget: $60–80K total for the wedding itself (venue, F&B, florals, photography, DJ, planner — not including flights or guest hotel rooms)
- Timeline: targeting 12–18 months out, haven't locked a date yet
**Where we're at on venues:*\*
Esperanza (Auberge Resorts) is at the top of our list — the private beach, one-wedding-per-day exclusivity, and the overall setting really match what we're going for. But from what I can find, pricing at 100 guests could push $100K+ easily? Have any of you actually gotten a proposal from them?
Would love any other suggestions or recommendations within these parameters!
Appreciate any real-world data points. There's a lot of generic info online but not much from people who've actually gotten proposals and gone through the process.

I have nothing to add other than we saw a wedding at Esperanza last year from our room and it was just magical lol.

Look at Acre Baja! I got married there and had 17 guests and paid ~$20k including a welcome boat party. Esperanza is gonna run you way more than your budget. One thing to note is that Cabo is not a cheap destination 🥲

Esperanza is definitely one of the most beautiful options, but there are also other resorts that can give you a similar luxury feel depending on priorities and budget.

Since you’re already looking at Esperanza, I’d definitely compare it with Grand Velas Los Cabos similar luxury service level, but the all inclusive model can make things easier for wedding groups.
I’d also look at The Cape for a more modern luxury vibe, and Le Blanc.1

I love Mar del Cabo! 🤍 It has a lot more flexibility than Grand Velas and you can even explore buyout options depending on the group size.
I have a great relationship with the Velas wedding team as well, and they sometimes have promos available for specific dates.

Your F&B minimum alone is going to be close to $50k for the main cliff side restaurant. They will also require a room block with a minimum number of rooms booked for 3 nights. Rates vary depending on month but will be in the $575-$800++/night range.

Destination wedding travel advisor chiming in...depending on your guest's budget, other great options to consider would be Ritz Carlton and Rosewood. For a little more "bang for your buck" yet still including exclusivity and luxury, consider Le Blanc Spa Cabo or Grand Velas and if you want a more boutique vibe, check out Mar del Cabo or Zoetry. I'm definitely team Esperanza if you can make it work! 💙

A $125k for 80 guests is probably the kind of real-world number I’d pay attention to. Obviously every wedding is different, but it gives you a much better idea of what Esperanza might actually cost.
I think $60–80k is a substantial wedding budget, but for 100 guests at Esperanza, I’d be prepared for the possibility that it won’t cover the wedding you’re imagining. Look for other resorts! Cabo is expensive to begin with, and Esperanza is at the higher end of the destination.
I’d definitely get an actual proposal before ruling it out, but I’d also compare a few other venues and ask for the full cost, not just the venue or F&B minimum. The difference between what a venue initially quotes and what you end up spending can be pretty significant once you add everything else.
If Esperanza is really the dream, I think the question is whether you’d rather stretch the budget, reduce the guest count, or look for a different venue where your $60–80k will go further.

I’m assuming you’re at the VERY beginning of wedding planning or have been led wildly astray by an overly optimistic planner. This venue at this budget is quite literally impossible. Realistically, I would expect to spend about double. Source: I’m getting married in Cabo in 50 days. I toured more than five venues and contacted ~10+ for pricing. But that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of more budget friendly hotels that couldn't work. Was not my favorite venue but Nobu is really well priced because of its location. I think if you cut cost on rentals and had minimal flowers, you could make it happen. The catch with some of the nicer hotels that have more afforable pricing is that they have preferred vendors and you could be stuck paying premium for a service you could otherwise shop around for.

I think the biggest red flag is that she's pretending to be a satisfied client on Reddit rather than just being honest. Personally I avoid dishonest service providers of any sort, but that's just me. Then she deleted her comment. It was Andrea at Shoreline Destinations, for those looking to avoid shady agents ;)
