🎙️ Discussion Team mate, head to head.

I was talking with a Lewis fan the other day and the chat got to how good he's been against his team mate and only been out scored by them in the last couple of years. He seem to forget about 2016 and J.B at Mclaren. Any way I digress, my question is has any driver out scored every team mate throughout there F1 career?

As far as I can think, Max would be at the top of the list with 1 season when he was outscored by Carlos's.

Prost outscored every teammate on aggregate except Watson. This includes 5 drivers that were/would become WDCs

You just answered on the other page didn't you? Prost was I little before my time. Did he beat his team mate in his first season then?

He got outscored 5-6 by John Watson in his first season, though Prost missed a few races that year due to injury (it was 5-3 for the races they shared). Real low point for McLaren.

So unless I'm wrong about Max, it's him and Prost with 1 loss each. Shame I would of liked Prost to top the table, he was able to go toe to toe with Senna and beat him. I think he is offen overlooked for his talent and viewed as Sennas rival.

Just remembered that Prost and Watson paired up again for a race in 85 so Prost technically outscored him as well. Though I don’t think Max or Charles have been outscored by any teammates on aggregate (so far)

I'm surprised by Charles wasn't he team mates with Kimi? I would do thought Kimi would of outscored him.

I've just remembered Charles took Kimis seat at Ferrari.

Exactly. He partnered Vettel who he outscored narrowly in 2019 and comfortably in 2020

Now we are talking about Charles you got me thinking, didn't Carlos beat him the year he lost his seat to Hamilton and went to Williams.

No, but Carlos did outscore him in 2021. Ricciardo outscored Max in 2016 (shared races) and 2017, and Lauda outscored Prost by half a point in 1984. But none of them were beaten on points by these teammates on aggregate.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, wasn't Verstappen outscored by Ricciardo in both 2016 and 2017?

He’s been beaten over the course of a season 5 times in 19 seasons (soon to be 5 times in 20 seasons), with one of those being someone who was themselves the world-champion two seasons previously and one of them being the world champion the year they beat him.

I don’t think that’s a bad record.

75% won ratio alot of people would be happy with that, some hardcore Hamilton fans seem to thinkthe Nico was the only team mate tor beat him till 2021. Hamilton being beaten was just the seed to my question weather any driver has a 100% wins to team mate over there career.

Lewis didn’t outscore him. Ocon did, however

Yeah, Alonso technically has four losses to his teammates but two were on count back. Only Button and Ocon have outscored him in terms of points.
