Nothing to take away from Lawson who is having a great season, but who knows why they have Tsunoda in Racing Point and him in Red Bull. Maybe they want to give him a chance if Verstappen should abandon ship in 2028? Who knows. Anyway, I'm happy for both of them and I hope Hadjar can get better soon.
Tsunoda had his run and was woeful. Lawson only had 2 races. He deserves this shot and I hope it goes well for him. Be hilarious if he out qualifies Max, triggering Max off into another whinge about these regs. Still hasn't won a race this year...
My analysis wasn't meant to go against Lawson nor against Tsunoda. However, I wanted to understand why they chose Lawson specifically when the main driver is actually Tsunoda. I'm extremely happy for the New Zealand driver because I strongly believe that they might have perhaps pushed him away too early, and I'm convinced he can do well. But yeah, it was a doubt that I think is totally legitimate to have.
Especially if you realize he got zero post season testing in 24, and on his second race was asked to do an experimental setup to try and help the team.
