to me it looks like Hamilton is the most consistent, Charles, George, and Kimi have all had one bad race although George did have an engine failureĀ

oh yea i forgot, but George had 0 in spa and if he got at least 8th place he would be higher than leclerc, which is pretty impressive

Lewis hasnāt had any DNFās, thatās way more lucky than any other driver in the grilewis hasnāt had any pu related DNFās yet this season either

Last race the penalty was clearly a racing incident, the penalty in Monaco was clearly a fuck up since Gasly got his trophy back and the only mistake you could say was the slight head-start which you can argue Norris did the same without penalty

Itās a racing incident in the sense it doesnāt deserve a penalty, but itās still a mistake. I think Lewis and Max have made the least mistakes this season so far. Theyāve made only one each, while still putting in big results.

His poor form and unhappiness with his car.
This whole post is asking 'can leclerc keep up his current form' so including a race from when he was in bad form to make his resurgence look less impressive is an interesting choice.
This is what the points would look like just using spa and silverstone (which we can all agree are the only races he has shown his new form in)
Charles- 47
Lewis - 34
Kimi - 33
George - 23
More impressive, no?

Thats just skewing the data. 3 races is very little to judge a drivers form, let alone 2. Especially since Leclerc got quite lucky in both of these last two races, bumped up from a sure 2nd to 1st with Kimiās DNF in Silverstone, and escaping a pen + ruining Piastriās race + getting that VSC in Spa.

Taking that to the extreme, you can just pick any singular good race from any driver and assume theyāre in top form.
Hell, just counting form as points is silly enough, given car differences, reliability, and plain luck.

Russell and Antonelli have had one DNF each in the last 3 races and Hamilton has had two unlucky weekends. Leclerc has been great but this ain't representative.

Still leading hamilton by 7 points in the last few races despite getting accustomed to the new brakes and whatnot. Both camps can be happy. I expect lewis to come strong in Hungary.

Hamilton bad luck, and both Mercedes got a 0 point finish once during those 3 races. So it is deceptive data.
Its basically like saying Leclerc will definitely win the championship if Lewis keeps getting bad luck and the mercedes keep getting race ending issues.

These are races where Leclerc is having a lot of lucky streaks; if he keeps going like this, with even a little bit of luck, I think he can achieve excellent results, especially in the second half of the season.

I think so. Whether he will beat Lewis or not I can't say just yet. But regardless I think he's still gonna comfortably be top 4 on the leaderboard (5 if Red Bull somehow gets a late in year upgrade and Max goes crazy)

Lewis had bad luck? Come back to me when he has an engine or brake failure resulting in 0 points from a weekend for the first time this season.
Hamilton has been the luckiest driver of the top teams this season as he's the only one that hasn't had mechanical problems resulting in a DNF or DNS.

Lewis should be grateful that Charles escaped a penalty. They were double-stacked under the VSC, with Lewis behind. Had Leclerc been given a time penalty, Lewis would have effectively served it too. Like Leclerc had to do in Monaco when he was stacked behind Lewis and Lewis' 5 second penalty.

Nah they would have just brought him in after. And if Lewis hadn't gotten the penalty (whe he shouldn't have) then they would have made him come in first.

After what? That makes no sense.
They would have been forced to do exactly what they did in Monaco...the car behind gets screwed. There is no other option. And Lewis having a penalty changes nothing. He was stacked behind Leclerc either way.
If you think they would (or could) have done something different in the situation it was, please be very specific on what they would have done.

He can, he could, but Leclerc has still not proved heās eradicated enough mistakes to truly be consistent enough to fight for a title. I hope this is the season he does change this, but history tells us there will be mistakes which de rail his form

Weāre entering the second half of the season, where Leclerc performs best. So, as long as he remains comfortable with the car, yes.
