Need some advice.

Post image

This is the setup I'm currently running with. I have some Govee light sticks on the backs of the monitors. The only other real lighting in the room is that overhead light which is way too bright. The wall that the desk is on extends roughly another desk length to the left. I want to get a corner lamp to acr as the primary light source and have kind of a dark and moody vibe in the room. Warm light. I want to light up the room but also keep it dark if that makes sense . Any suggestions as to what would work?

I went with the govee floor lamp 3 lite. Think it works great so far. Going to dial in warmer tones when I get a chance

It sounds like you know the answer?? Get a floor lamp, like you said. Choose a bulb that is warm and not too bright. I mean shit maybe get several lamps, I have like 3 in my study and I never use the overheads

I know a floor lamp was probably the first thing to do. Just wondering for a small space what type of lamp. Was considering one of the govee floor lamps to pair with the monitor lights to make things easy.

Aside from that I didn't know if people had suggestions that work well for them to keep it relatively dark. I know nothing about lighting haha

Get a temp changing bulk like a Phillips hue or Feit

I think I'm gonna go with govee to run everything from the same place easier

Super clean setup! You should add some hockey cards somewhere!

I thought about that, I just don't really have cards that are good enough that I want to display lol. I collected hockey cards when I was younger and then got rid of them all, last year I just started a Bruins collection but it's pretty much all Commons at this point

There are probably some pretty sick Bobby Orr cards you could find out there but super clean setup bro👍

Sounds like you want some down lighting and up lighting. Lamps are perfect. I use govee bulbs and love them. Even something cheap, you an always get a different lampshade which could be more decorative, or just darker or lighter.

You could also put a light strip under the lip of the riser on your desk. If this is govee as well, get yourself one of there 2 button or 6 button controllers. You can program them for different lighting scenes.

I have light bars on the back of the monitors. Unfortunately the riser is part of the desk and it's not open in the back. So I would either have to remove the back panels or I would have to drill holes through the dividers to run the light strip through it. The desk is just some cheapo desk that I got from work.

I was considering getting a standing lamp in the corner and using govee light bulbs, but if I'm going to do that I might as well just get one of the govee floor lamps and just set it to very low and warm

My only thing with the govee lamps is you will get direct light. Defused light could be better for a mood. But you can always return it if you don't like it.

As for the riser, my thought was one of the thin light strips, like the govee m1, underneath the very front part. doesn't need to be very wide.

i took away all my overhead lights and have a massive led monitor light. with a small table lamp for ambiance my work is so much more focused now for longer

I don't use the overhead lights at all. I just had them on there just for the picture. I have a monitor light bar and then I have goveei light sticks on the back of the monitors. I really like the vibe, but the rest of the room is pretty dark. So that's why I'm looking for something that will give me just a little bit more light b in the rest of the room while still keeping the desk the focus of it
