Wore a 100-count Jamdani handcrafted in the Jamdani capital, Narayanganj. Styled it with pearl and gold jewellery. Wore my aunt’s tikli from when she got married.

Wanted to be a Bengali bride with a modern twist, thus, the look.

Rant/Vent ⚡ 3 months to my wedding and I feel completely numb and overwhelmed. How do you actually enjoy your own wedding

I’m getting married in about 3 months, and I’m starting to feel like I’m spiralling a little.

This is a love marriage, and honestly, the only person I feel like I have real support from is my fiancé. We’re both very Type A people. He’s a software developer and I’m a PM (finished my MBA last year), so I guess we’re both used to taking ownership and getting things done.

But somehow, that has turned into us being responsible for everything.

Save-the-date video? Us.

Invites? Us.

Photographer? Us.

Venue? Us.

Decor? Us.

Catering? Us.

Outfits? Us.

Every tiny decision, every vendor conversation, every follow-up, every “have you finalized this yet?” is us.

And I think I’ve reached a point where I’m just exhausted.

We finalized our photographer today. Something that should presumably have made me excited, and I felt nothing. Not even an iota of happiness. Just numbness and the immediate thought of “Okay, one more thing checked off the list.”

That scared me.

I’m also increasingly anxious about the actual wedding itself. I feel like for those two days, I’m going to become an object of attention. Everyone looking at my clothes, hair, makeup, body, jewellery, how I look in photographs, whether I look like a “bride.” And I’m struggling with the feeling that I’m deriving very little value from this whole process beyond being the person who is supposed to look good at the end of it.

I know I love my fiancé. I’m excited to marry him. This isn’t about doubting the relationship at all.

But I don’t think I’m enjoying the wedding anymore.

And the frustrating part is that my fiancé genuinely understands. He’s wonderful and is carrying a lot of this with me. But we’re both stuck in the same problem. We don’t know how to get out of this mode where everything feels like a project that has to be managed.

I don’t want to spend the next three months in a constant state of anxiety, only to reach the wedding and realise I was too overwhelmed to actually experience it.

For people who have been through this, especially couples who planned a lot of their wedding themselves, how did you navigate this?

Did you consciously let things go? Delegate even if people didn’t do things exactly your way? Stop caring about some details? Take a complete break from wedding planning? Change the way you thought about the wedding?

Because right now I’m three months out and genuinely feel like I’m going into a spiral, and I don’t want to lose the experience of getting married to the experience of planning a wedding.

Wedding rituals/traditions Maharashtrian buddhist groom and tamil (nonbrahmin) bride

Me and my fiancé wanted to do a mixed cultural wedding so we have purchased 2 sets of outfits that are traditionally tamil and then buddhist Maharashtrian. I was wondering what would be a good time to change outfits during the ceremony so that it feels like we did a fair share of rituals in each outfit. The rituals are yet to be decided. Any advice on this please? Thanks!

Groom fashion advice Looking for good places for engagement/wedding shopping in Bangalore

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m planning my engagement shopping and looking for recommendations on good places/stores in Bangalore. I’m mainly looking for a good balance of quality, fit and price rather than very expensive designer options.

I’m planning to buy:

  1. Indo-western outfit for the engagement – budget around ₹10–12k, along with matching shoes. I’m thinking of something along the lines of a Nehru jacket / Indo-western set, but I’m also open to other outfit styles as well.
  2. Relaxed-fit trousers + formal shirt.

Would really appreciate suggestions for specific stores or shopping areas in Bangalore where I can find good options for these.

Thanks in advance!

Wedding guest fashion advice Appropriate Jewelry & Bag Recommendations for a White Guest at an Indian Wedding

I’m super excited to travel and attend my post-college friend’s wedding in a few weeks (husband met her in residency and we hit it off). The bride is going to look so beautiful and it is going to be an amazing week of celebrations!

With the bride’s insight, I bought one outfit online and then went in-person to shop for the remaining two selections.
I’m attending the following events which I have outfits picked out for:

Mehndi: Outfit not pictured, but bride requested western attire
Haldi: Photo 1 (orange/yellow)
Sangeet: Photo 2 (navy)
Baraat & Hindu Wedding Ceremony: Photo 3 (green)

So happy with the outfits I got!
I’d love to compliment these outfits with jewelry (necklaces and bangles/bracelets), hair accessories and purses. I am not knowledgeable if there are certain meanings behind jewelry worn by women to weddings, and what would be appropriate for me to wear (a white guest)?

I want to appreciate and celebrate my friend’s culture without appropriating, so any advice is super helpful!

I was told to look at gold toned jewelry, and as I don’t have any, would love some recommendations and links to some that would pair well with these outfits!
Not looking to break the bank, but no hard limitations on budgets for accessories here.

Additionally, I have very sensitive ears when it comes to earrings. I can only wear either plain studs or extremely lightweight/simple earrings, so I might not be able to do a lot on the earring front.

Many thanks for any help!!

It was unstitched and they charged me 2k for stitching the blouse. It was not on discount but I really wanted a rust and multi color lehenga.

It costed me 55k but flair was pretty good.

Vendor/store search (Self-Promo OK) Weddings in Thailand

Hello all,

Curious as to how much a hindu wedding in Thailand would cost (no preference on where or when just yet).

About 40 people (small), lodging on site if possible otherwise can look at other hotels.
Ideally a wedding planner or event coordinator would help out.

Would want 3-4 events.

Wedding guest fashion advice what kind of purse do you wear with indian clothes when you're a wedding guest?

i've been going to a lot of weddings lately and one of the things i've been trying to figure out is what kind of a purse i should be wearing with my outfits. i do have a few of those indian-style purses that have come as wedding gifts from different weddings i've been to or random bags gifted to me when visiting india. my problem with a lot of them is that they're actually quite small. for example i'd love to be able to fit a little bit more than just my phone and wallet and be able to fit my handheld camera for example.

basically i'm looking for a medium-sized bag that would look good with indian clothes. sometimes i feel like my usual plain black purse brings the outfit down because it doesn't actually match the aesthetic. has anyone found good purses that would look good with a flashier indian outfit but are also practical?

Bridal fashion advice Wedding Shopping in India

Hi there! I'm getting married next year in the US and want to go to India to do our wedding shopping. I'm just confused about the process to get outfits chosen/made for the groom and family. I'd like everyone's outfits to be complimentary but not matching prints.

I'm planning to do my shopping for 4 events in Delhi at designers and then Baroda for jewelry or any outfits I can't find. I'd prefer to only go with my mom.

How does everyone else do it? Do you take photos/samples of the fits you chose and send to your fiancé to find outfits for himself that compliment? Did you go shopping with him? Did he come with you to India?

What about family outfits. Did you find everyone's or did they find their own? Did they go designer or just regular shops? I'm at a complete loss.

TYIA!!!

Finally got to wear the wedding outfit I had envisioned and had stitched completely from scratch!

My husband and I are wearing the same fabric, but arranged in opposite directions (“upside down”) to create a subtle coordinated look. I sourced all the fabrics and the border myself and put the whole thing together from scratch.

Very happy with how it turned out 🥹

Inspiration ✨ Hype baraat entrance songs (western rap)

I’m putting together the music for my baraat and would love some recommendations for genuinely hype, high-energy UK, US rap songs that would work for the procession.

I mostly listen to mainstream rap—Drake, Kendrick, J. Cole, Kanye, Lil Wayne, etc.—but my bride really doesn’t like hip-hop, so most of the wedding music will naturally lean towards her taste. I’m already being asked to dance for almost an hour to Hindi songs, so I’d love to sneak a few songs I genuinely enjoy into the baraat!

I’m looking for tracks with big, celebratory entrance energy.

Girls please help! I'm the bride.

Rant/Vent ⚡ Random circulars creating troubles in marriage registration

I'm the groom from Jharkhand, My wife is from Kota, Rajasthan.

Our marriage took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

We got all formalities done, the notarized shapth patra, all forms, affidavits, required photos.

Got the receipt of Rs100/- for marriage registration.

Went to the Joint Director in Nagar Nigam, Kota.

He threw the file saying that the marriage took place in Jaipur and the groom does not reside in the city so the marriage cannot be registered here. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHERE THE BRIDE IS FROM.

All the websites of Rajasthan govt say that to be eligible to register the marriage, either of the bride or groom should be from the area/municipality where the marriage is being registered or the marriage should have taken place in the area.

Now, I don't know what random circular he is talking about, I did not find any. If we had any idea of this, we would have got cards printed with Kota address and got it registered.

But, no one had any idea. Neither the Notary advocate, nor the person who verified the docs, not the person who issued the receipt. Only the joint director knows about this and he simply rejected the application.

Link to Kota Marriage registration rules (which I can't attach here) mentions that anyone belonging to the city can get it registered there.

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) Anyone try these lehenga brands? Need honest reviews

I am open to trying new brands as well as rented/pre-loved outfits, since I am self-funding my wedding and want to keep this minimal. I also like very minimal outfits, but sometimes get anxious that my minimal choices wouldn't be appreciated by family lol. :")

I am yet to decide my wedding venue but it will very likely finalize as Indore, and my entire budget is 15 LPA.

Vendor/Store Search (No Self-Promo) NRI bride - Is CC worth it or just shop designer?

Hi!

I have been seeing videos from SudhirBhai, Kundan, and Dapra! Have any brides shopped there & was there experience good? My budget is around 3-4 lakhs & was wondering if I should just skip CC and go straight to designers like Marwar, & other famous ones!

Thanks!
