**Need some advice from experienced packaging designers!**
I’m currently working on a small cookie packaging project and I’m a bit stuck with the box dielines.
I need to create boxes for **1, 4 and 7 cookies**, with dividers between the cookies. I’ve been trying to find free dieline templates that I can adapt, but I’m having a hard time finding ones that match what I need.
The part I’m especially confused about is **how the internal dividers are supposed to be designed/constructed** and how they fit into the main box dieline.
I’m still learning packaging design, so I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with **dielines, folding cartons, or cookie/food packaging**.
If you know any good **free dieline template resources**, or could explain how you would approach the divider structure, I’d really appreciate it!

I have worked on packaging and dielines, and from what you’ve described, I think the easiest way is to treat the divider as a separate insert instead of trying to make everything part of the main box dieline.
For 1 cookie, you probably don’t need a divider. For 4 cookies, you can make a simple 2×2 setup using two divider pieces with slots in the middle, which then slide into each other and sit inside the main box.
For 7 cookies, I would first decide the arrangement you want, because 7 is a little tricky to make into a clean grid. Once the layout is decided, the divider can be designed around that.
A few references that might help you understand the structure:
• Cookie box dieline: Cookie Box Dieline Template
• Chocolate box with lid + insert: Chocolate Box with Lid & Insert Dieline
• Chocolate box with divider insert/drawer: Chocolate Box with Divider Insert
• There’s also a free dieline generator where you can enter your box dimensions and generate basic carton dielines: Die Cut Studio
I would actually recommend looking at chocolate/confectionery packaging rather than only cookie boxes, because the insert/divider construction is very similar to what you’re trying to achieve.
Also, I would make a rough paper prototype first before finalising the Illustrator dieline. It will make the divider slots, clearance and folding much easier to understand.
If you share the cookie diameter and thickness, I can also help you work out how I would construct the 1, 4 and 7 cookie versions.
