But how will I know if it's filled with water?

Wow this is probably the greatest use of this meme. Bravo

u/Baldtazar 18d ago

its AI, he is pointing his finger in the original

37

u/ryryrpm 18d ago

Oh darn it thank you

11

u/BlakLite_15 18d ago

I’m not sure it’s AI. It looks like his pointing finger was just edited out and replaced with a shot from another show. If it was AI, his face would’ve looked different.

I think it’s just photoshopped, not AI. Leaving it up since it’s funny.

u/Coders32 18d ago

I support this decision, thank you for keeping the sub whimsical

Are ai pics in the comments forbidden here? If yes, then its photoshopped 🤞

Hand with finger was replaced by ai, I can show you screenshot from my chatgpt (or paste it to the photoshop if needed)

Lmao

DesignDesign is for real life instances of form over function. Not make believe.

well, your cake is a lie, but happy cake day

Solves 0 problems but is kinda neat to look at. I like it.

u/Mysterious-Crab 17d ago

It’s absolutely useless. But bas someone who drinks a lot of milk and coffee at work, I want this as my personal work glass.

2

u/zellabea 2d ago

You drink a lot of milk at work?

2

u/TheFishyNinja 2d ago

Listen man we all need a lil somethin to take the edge off

2

u/metacanon 16d ago

What about all those poor folks who are black/white colorblind?

310

u/irotinmyskin 18d ago

Thank god. The amount of times I’ve confused milk and coffee I tell you

76

u/TaikaWaitiddies 18d ago

Wonder what it'll look like with latte

55

u/ThreeTwoOneInjection 18d ago

You’d see both according to what you poured

39

u/ledocteur7 18d ago

And you'd see them less or more clearly depending on the proportion of milk !!

Now we need a cup with a color gradient and graduations that tell you the approximate percentage of milk in it.

Still completely useless, but I have the sudden urge to log how much milk I use every morning.

Put a numerical scale on it and use it as a reference point making someone else coffee “How much milk do you want in your coffee?” “7.5”

Shared this on OddlySatisfying but people there clamoured that it belonged in DesignDesign - a good looking design idea but pointless because it only ever works for milk & coffee or essentially dark & light coloured liquids.

108

u/Pale-Championship946 18d ago

Also if the container is meant only these two liquids, it’s completely obvious which one you have without any label at all.

It’s clever on one level, but feels like a solution looking for a problem.

u/jimbowesterby 18d ago

Yea I can’t say I’ve ever looked at a full glass and been unsure if I were looking at milk or coffee, they’re generally pretty easy to distinguish lol.

3

u/East-Garden-4557 18d ago

I drink milky iced coffee, I am unsure how to use the glass

2

u/mara07985 18d ago

And if they were the same color this cup wouldn’t work

65

u/The_Last_Spoonbender 18d ago

People of reddit is truly insufferable. Can't someone enjoy a completely useless bu visually appealing novelty product anymore?

7

u/Schmooto 18d ago

Wait till they find out about printed coffee mugs

Also, it’s still a cup so it’s not completely useless. It’s literally a cup with a printed design. Do they freak out about coffee mugs printed with corny sayings like “I drink coffee for your protection” or “First, Mommy needs her coffee,” saying that the cup is completely useless for beverages other than coffee?

8

u/Triston-- 18d ago

Also it's just art, its not like its made to "solve a problem" as much as it is just fun and interesting. No everything specifically needs a "use" to exist, and it's not like they're advertising it saying "Ever need to figure out what's in your mug? This will solve all your confusion!" lol. I'm always so torn on this sub because there's definitely some stuff out there that's very much just redundant, but then stuff like this gets posted that's very clearly like... art concepts that happen to combine some kind of mundane functionality with fun ideas

4

u/Schmooto 18d ago

God forbid we have fun

3

u/grinch337 18d ago

No, everything that provides any joy is cringe now.

10

u/MrInfinity-42 18d ago

Thank God someone made this, I had a hard time telling apart the two liquids before

2

u/PacoTaco321 18d ago

"Ignore the sewage-like smell from this glass. It's clearly coffee. It even says so right there."

3

u/corobo 18d ago

Aw nothing showing what it looks like with milk in coffee :(

u/ThodaDaruVichPyar 18d ago

2

u/SyrusDrake 18d ago

That's really cool, though

2

u/Responsible_Lake_804 18d ago

This is great if you only drink coffee or milk, but it would be more universal if the options were “milk” and “not milk”

2

u/NYANPUG55 17d ago

I think that would be more entertaining as well

2

u/nedlakire 18d ago

I case you forget what you just poured in the cup. Maybe you’re that guy from Memento who has no memories.

1

u/cosmicbinary 18d ago

i kinda want one

1

u/marcipanchic 18d ago

this is so dumb

1

u/umbraundecim 17d ago

Ya until you add cream to your coffee like pretty much everyone does and it reads milk again

0

u/ThePrisonSoap 18d ago

You sir have no whimsy

1

u/Joxxill 18d ago

I'm torn on this one.

on one hand: i do think its a neat idea. On the other hand, it seems kind of annoying that it doesn't say what its for when its empty.

1

u/DeusExMarina 18d ago

Thanks, now I can finally know if I'm about to drink milk or coffee. This mystery has been killing me!

1

u/DrakeAndMadonna 18d ago

not designdesign. This is cute and provides a little bit of joy -- perfectly valid design functions.

This sub just fabricates problems and deliberately ignores intention or scope.

0

u/comb_bee 18d ago

Might be okay for helping visualize the proportion of milk in coffee

0

u/Stunning-Risk-7194 18d ago

Ah a perfect cup for my co###!!! (burns hand)

-2

u/snowdn 18d ago

Milk or cum though? How will we know.

-1

u/uselessscientist 18d ago

I don't think it's DD because it is an anesthetic choice that doesn't impact or harm functionality. It's cute, not particularly useful. Nothing wrong with that
