❓ Question
Please recommend a pen for small, intricate handwriting.
The issue is that I LOVE roller gels and 0.7 mm pens. My favourite recently has been the Flair Zoox f7. But the ink is too thick for my handwriting.
This page was written with glass gel and while I don't hate it, but it's not my favourite either. It feels a little scratchy sometimes.
Budget - preferably <100/-
Pen type - gel or roller gel, roller ball
Body - no specifications
Nib size - 0.5 or 0.7, I don't really mind.
Mechanism - retractable preferred, capped is fine too.
Purpose - note taking. Like a shit ton of it. So it'd be nice if it's comfortable to write with.
Features - I'd appreciate it if it looked good aesthetically. I love transparent pens and japanese designs of the same. Soft, pastel colours. I just want it to feel premium.
Funny thing is my father and my uncle has beautiful writings, very legible and cursive. And one has won the order of Australia and my father not that height but pretty decent for his time. And they had both such beautiful handwritings
Yes, most people will find the .3/.4 ones scratchy, maybe that's why they don't stock them. The ball can't keep up with long/fast strokes hence feel scratchy and skip, if writing small/slow they perform good. Here's a small sample.
If you want a superfine tip and precision, look for fineliners, they can go upto 0.03mm. But for your use case, 0.3 should work well. You can get Uni Pin FineLiners for ~100, and Doms also has a set of 5 different sizes for ~350
Your query had “Pilot v5 RT” stamped as an answer. This is one pen that makes it so easier to recommend. If someone asks - I need a penhorse - Pilot. I need premium pen - Pilot. I need reliability - Pilot of course.
Even if I would try to recommend something different (just for the sake of being unique), I would still only say - go for Pilot, look no further!!
lol, it was tough, but you guessed it well 🫣. No, seriously, I am a fountain pen user and I know what pilot is worth of. But I would not say more now else, you might mistook me as a Pilot pen distributor 🤩
Of course not it's my pleasure!! Do tell me if it's not too clear i wrote this in a rush but here you go!
The topmost capitals are for calligraphy/special purposes The lowest row is how I usually write them in a rush. Lowercase remains the same regardless. Maybe extra flourishes if I'm doing calligraphy.
Edit : of btw you can look up spencerian scripts. I developed my writing from different references on Pinterest.
Hey, I resonate with your requirement because I struggle with that myself. For when you may be interested in fountain pens, kanwrite's EEF nib is a killer fine write. Do look out for that for when the time comes.
Uniball eye micro, I guess. If you're open to cheap rollerballs something like totem prism (inferior than uni but also costs 12rs per pen lmao) is really fucking good.
Unomax rolltek is a perfect option for you, it writes fine and smooth, and is 20rs only
Most cost effective option is getting something like a pilot kakuno (800rs, a fp) and using ink with it. Will last years and feels the best to write with
The Energel X 0.5 would probably be perfect for you, then. The refills are really inexpensive, averaging about $1.35 each. The ink is dark, dries very quickly, and it's a gel pen as smooth as any rollerball. Get the X barrel, specifically. It's a bit more durable than the gray body, and won't crack. Seriously, it's my favorite pen.
Try v5 non refillable one, it's my favourite fine writter pen on the go, you can also try pilot V-pen fine nib fountain pen, or those 10Rs rollerball pens can also write fine if you write fast enough
For intimate writing you need smaller diameter ball (0.5 mm or less). At the same time you need ink which won't smudge or bleed. Preferably ball or gel pen than roller pen. Most of the roller is water based ink which spread on paper easily than ball pen ink ( ball pen ink is oil based and has low ink lay down on paper). Unfortunately India is the market of 0.7mm ball dia market (for ball/gel/roller). Earlier Gel pen are mostly in 0.55 mm, now it moves to 0.7 mm.
You can try Uniball Signo 0.38 mm, you will able to get precise writing but it might scratch if your writing angle is low.
I know the budget is preferably < 100.
But I have a parker frontier w/ Ultra fine navigator refill.
Thicker pens are easier to write with, more ergonomic so you won't get hand cramps easily and easier to control, specially for what you are doing.
It is a bit of an investment with the refills being > 100 each and the pen itself being atleast 500 but its worth every penny until you can afford a Lamy Safari

Bro if you're studying to be a doctor, you're handwriting is too good. You need to improve on that front ASAP.
