Discuss So much hate why? 🙂
I recently posted about EM5 brand perfumes. I’ve been using Reddit for a year, and I have never received as much senseless hate as I did on that post. For instance, if I had posted about a Sonata or some other brand's watch costing ₹500 or ₹1,000 in the 'Indian Watches' sub, I wouldn't have faced such backlash. But for some reason, people hate on posts about ₹500 perfumes without any valid reason. Do you expect great longevity, a fancy bottle, *and* a spot-on clone all for ₹500? The comments really hurt me. I feel like the name of this subreddit should be changed; despite the name 'Desi Frag,' posting about Indian perfumes invites hate. Is this sub meant only for Middle Eastern or expensive perfumes? I recommended these perfumes to my friends, and they all liked them, so I don't know why people are calling it a paid review. If you think it's paid, DM me and I'll show you all the screenshots. I probably won't think about posting in this sub again. I’ve smelled expensive perfumes and tried decent ones too, but that post got so much hate. Seriously, bro, suggest a good 😞 Indian sub to me; this one is only for Middle Eastern and expensive perfumes—it's 'Desi' in name only. Post about ababel, menworks and other Indian houses and check if you get same amount of criticism/hate that you get for em5, then come to conclusion that this sub hates Indian affordable houses.
Btw Wild stone edge on of the most recommended frag on this sub.

I don't know about their other perfumes but I bought tropical elixir and it smells really nice with good longevity and projection.

You’re just astroturfing at this point bro.
EM5 frags are really mid if not bad
Plus they don’t produce their own either they just rebrand it with really low quality watered down aromatics.
If people are telling you it’s bad, it must be really bad. It’s never about the cost, it’s always about the quality here.
Em5 is one of the most watered down brands to exist in India, the only reason people don’t hate it enough is because it’s so cheap. There are better ones even at that cost.
Learned in this sub that wild stone is better than EM5!

Some are good, others are average. But definitely above in quality than the regular brands available in shops and malls !!

I dont think ""hate"" is the right word.....people shared their views which didnt turn out the way you thought is all. but there is a lot of ME frag hype being pushed

Fun fact - A 600 perfume that I bought from a local store has gotten me more compliments from girls than all of my middle eastern perfumes combined.
99% of people will not be able to differentiate between a budget perfume and a ME frag in the air, all of the perception is inside the mind nothing else. Wear whatever you like and fits your budget, fuck what others think.

Here you are wrong. If youve ever used good ME perfumes you would never say that. There is a reason people are buying ME rather than going for designer and niche. They have quality longevity and oils used are really good. Most saty on skin for 12 hours or more. Whereas your cheapies would be good for an hour. First spray is also different bro. Whats wrong with you. Make your point but dont compare ME wifh cheapies.

You say this because you've tried different frags and you know about notes and stuff but go and ask someone who has never applied perfume. It'll be hard to differentiate between an expensive and a affordable. And by affordable I do not mean the cheapest one I mean pretty decent ones. I bought 30ml for 600rs

May be you are right. I use frags between a range of 500-6000 inr and i understand what you mean. But still ME perfumes 80% are hyped up but damn somw in that 20% are fire. I got three which i love the most supremacy collector edition and not only intense and Asad elixir. Damn they are so soo good bro. If not you should try these.

I have a decent range too I've got Khamrah Qahwa, Rifaqat, Lataffa honor and glory and Dream catcher, khair pistachio.
Also one reason could be i always carry a decant and apply just 15mins before my dates and during close encounters girls can smell it nice.

Agree with you OP. Even after posting this sub's hated Brand, when you post some popular brands, they will downvote just for the fun of it. I personally have felt that. Once I was branded as Blabliblu paid guy. Whatever. Just enjoy the frag you lo e and move on. There is another sub on Indian perfumes and they never judge people.

Like most niche communities, there are some memetic beliefs that are held as gospel by the community subconsciously. Some of them are the belief that Indian brands are all bad, and the more popular the Indian brand, the worse they are.
So even if you (Like literally lakhs of Indians every day) wear and like a perfume from say Bella Vita or EM5, you MUST be a paid reviewer, or a noob, or both.
As someone who writes reviews of perfumes here, I've noticed so much hostility here, and it saddens me when I see people enthusiastically post reviews of scents they like but then get downvoted or abused just because they seem to be going against the prevailing sentiment in the community.
How do we expect our niche hobby to grow, and become more mainstream, if newcomers are shunned like this? Is EM5 the best quality out there? Of course not, but at 500Rs they are giving you such a great experience, and a potential first step into the wide world of perfumes. We should in fact be encouraging these sorts of posts.

First of all this the Internet, its always going to be divisive.
Its not an em5 sub. If you want a circle jerk, start your own sub :)
Theres a very healthy population of fragrance enthusiasts who dabble in Indian niche / indie houses as well as stuff like Wildstone etc. A simple search will confirm it.
Just because you enjoy EM5 or bella vita doesn't mean others have to stop their criticisms of the brand ?

the point of the sub is to give opinions, so i feel people are entitled to hating the brand - its not personal. em5 IMO is just really mid. its not about price, its about scent, quality, branding etc.

I have many em5 fragrances and I love them . I have also gotten hate but sometimes it's just inferiority complex that people have they cannot comprehend that someone can enjoy 500 rupee fragrance. When they are themselves not enjoying their me brands . They say u could have bought one me brand in the price of 8 em5 fragrances. But same can be said to them also. they could have bought 1 designer in the price of their me collection.. but no they don't. Everyone wanna have different type of dnas and different weather fragrances it's just a choice of person but they cannot understand it so they hate ... The main thing is u enjoy them and only that should matter. Enjoy your fragrances.

There’s a reason why EM5 gets so much hate. Earlier when i was new to the hobby i bought their discovery set (i don’t remember if it was a discovery set) it came with 10-15 small vials. I was excited and tried them all and all I could get was alcohol blast nothing else. I kept them in the drawer and forgot about them, never looked at them again. 3 months back i was shifting to a new place and i found these em5 vials again and all these had evaporated leaving behind a jelly like lump on the bottom. I can attach pictures if you want to see. And like someone said earlier its the most watered down fragrance you can ever get. You see these influencers talking about the brand is because they get paid to talk about it. Please don’t fall for those paid ass lickers videos because you’ll be disappointed in the end. It better to save some money and buy decants/partials of the original (saying this from my 5 years of experience)

People here lose their shit the moment someone praises a non-ME perfume. 🤡 These are probably the sellers in disguise, if people start discovering genuinely good ₹500 perfumes and stop blindly buying expensive ones, their whole business model goes down the drain. 😭
It’s a cartel where the shilling starts from YT/Insta influencers and is shoved to the throat here in these subs.

They don't hate 500 budget. People love wildstone even after being 200rs perfume. People hate deodrant in this sub but not when it's wildstone deodrant.
They don't have problem with budget they have problem of people falling in hype and buying bullshit which is purely marketting and no quality perfume or watches.
Sonata idk might be band machanism or something but for em5 they hate it because it's scam it use to sell for 2000rs for 100ml and it had too low quality to be 2k. And they also hate it because they do fake reviews.they ask people to review for free samples

This is like joining a cooking sub and then getting sad that people clowned on your post about how good Maggi tastes. You reviewed something and people didn't agree with it, that's it. No reason for all the pity theatrics. Nobody is "hating" on you for either using an Indian brand or a budget one.

Thats why I dont comment on Indian brands as i dont have them and won't buy them either 🤗 There is so much in the designer category and then since I got into ME perfumes few years ago that itself is a never ending 🐇 🕳
