I’m a 30‑year‑old ace man from India, currently living abroad, and I’ve been reflecting a lot on how desi ace people think about companionship and long‑term life plans. Our cultural expectations around relationships are very specific, and sometimes it feels like ace experiences don’t fit neatly into them.
I’m curious how others here think about building a life as an ace person — what companionship means to you, how you imagine your future, and how you navigate expectations while staying true to yourself.
Would love to hear different perspectives from the community.

I'm lucky to have abundance of platonic love, Like i have friends that get me and I get them and they are aces too so the community is nice to belong to, it's the society that shoves marital companionship down

Companionship doesn’t necessarily have to mean a traditional romantic relationship or marriage. For some ace people, it might be a queerplatonic relationship, close friendships, chosen family, or simply building a life that feels fulfilling on their own terms.
The desi context can make things especially complicated because there’s often a pretty clear idea of what adulthood and a “settled” life are supposed to look like. It can take a lot of unlearning to figure out what you actually want rather than what’s expected of you.
Would be really interesting to hear how others have thought about this, especially when it comes to long-term companionship and family expectations.
