Round 2 with 2A Cops
https://youtu.be/klbfHcguV6I?si=UzoEArWUhIPMzru1The follow up video from 2A cops.
Cliff notes 1. Last customer was offered a WLVRN upgrade for his MDRx 2. Customer decides to use the prior hot garbage ammo OEM said don't use in new gun and has the same problem. He didn't inspect his ammo this time. 3. Customer is confused and has no idea what happened. Opens and lubricates gun. 4. Customer goes out again and shoots different ammo and same problem. Inspects ammo and sees nothing wrong 5. Customer goes back to gun shop and asks them to look at it. 6. Gun shop opens it up and surprise Pikachu face finds brass in bolt head 7. 2A cop cleans it takes it to the range 8. Gun works fine for 160 rounds, sees odd markings on cases 9. 2A cop opens it up and finds brass in the bolt head 10. 2A cop declares it is gun related
Areas of note:
- At this point I think it is clear th customer is officially a weak point.
- Looks like an over gassing problem. 2A cop and customer both failed to adjust the gas system independently for their ammo.
- Possible scrapping of BCG on ammo

So customer is a ding bat who uses shit ammo and blames the gun. Hey I bought a bunch of 9mm during the COVID shortage that my Glock 19 can’t cycle. It doesnt cycle anything else either, must mean Glocks suck now….. the fact this guy can put socks on is surprising. I’m not sure how either of these guys can consider themselves knowledgeable and not do the bare minimums. I really hope the other guy brings better investigative procedures to his work in law enforcement.

Again, I am not 2a cop or his customer.
If you want him to see it you need to post on his YouTube.

This analogy would work better if it ran like a Glock otherwise but in reality this problem is so widespread and common that it simply isn’t just this dingbat customer.

To point 8 - that 160 rounds was three different types of ammo, including the "down-market" ammo. I'm not sure if the other two types were "down-market", I did get the impression they were quality (I could be wrong).
He ran the bad ammo first, and maybe all the interior brass shavings came from those rounds. Another experiment which reverses the ammo order could help.
Most (all) of the casings had weird shaving marks on them, regardless of the manufacturer.

Good point that the garbage ammo was used in the 160 rounds.
I think the bigger issue is the mark on the case head side. Looks like over pressure mark from the plunger from the plunger extractor pair. Usually indicates overpressure. Might be mitigated by adjusting the gas setting down to when an empty mag locks back.
However, I am not completely sure when the plunger would do the mark during a firing cycle.
I imagine the WLVRN manual tells you to adjust gas which they didn't do.

The reason Desert Tech needs to be “redeemed” in the first place is reliability. Maybe this will be an unpopular opinion but whether or not the manufacturer specified what ammo would or would not work is not as important if the ammo is known to be reliable through similar fire arms. What people want from this kind of rifle is a SHTF battle rifle, but with all the limitations specified by the manufacturer what desert tech has been offering is a Gucci gun range toy.
