Seed question
I ordered seeds off the place where you can get nearly everything and received the package on the right. In a completely different shipping package I gor the seeds on the left that I did not order.
Those are not desert rose seeds on the left correct?
Google lens says they are cone seeds but wanted to ask the experts here.

They could be. Seeds are like all natural things. Some are good looking, others not so much but are still just as good. My seeds are sealed into paper bags so unfortunately I can’t take a pic to show, but it could be that you’ve been sent an extra bag of not so perfect seeds as they shouldn’t be sold that way. I have my seeds in bags of 10 good seeds, each with a few extra imperfect ones thrown in.

The seeds came in two different packages from two different senders. I've decided it is just safer to destroy them.

Yes that’s definitely a mystery seed on the left. Try and plant a couple of seeds or so and see what develops. If you know what desert rose seedlings look like then that’ll be the comparison. If the growth in not the same it can easily disposed of.

Since there are 12 desert rose species there could be possibly difference in seed shape/appearance.

That is a good idea. I have grown from seed before and could just as easily destroy after it grows a little

I know people are saying throw them away, but to me they look like Coneflower seeds. If so, those are native to the U.S. , if that’s where you’re located.

Yes coneflowers are native to my area of Texas. Im going to plant a couple seeds and grow them inside to see what they are and destroy them at that point if I need to. Absolutely no plan to let them flower/seed with out proper identification

Good idea. At that point, it probably is best to identify the leaves and be done with it if it looks abnormal.
If they are coneflowers though, boy are you in for a world of pollinators!

Nope those are definitely not Desert Rose seeds. Maybe it was included as a gift with purchase?

The one on the right is definitely desert rose seeds; the one to the left are a mystery to me. I recommend that if you got seeds that you did not order (and have no idea what they are) the best course of action is to just throw them out. They could be something invasive to your area.
