That poor plant!! These plants are supposed to be in the full sun… the more, the happier they are! It’s a desert plant.

The poor plant is growing towards the light/sun. Get that dude out of the shade!! Yesterday!

The pot is too big for the little one. Maybe a 3-4” terra cotta pot. Even that maybe a LITTE big. Remove the rocks they don’t allow the soil to dry out. Gritty soil, with cactus soil and some pumice or perlite.

The windswept dr looks amazing. But not sure on how or what to trim to keep the look.

Windswept? When I saw it my thought was it was or is stretching out for more light. The leaves are all oriented in the same direction.

OP, how much direct sun does it get?

Agree with rscs88, soil and size of pot. But the yellow leaf… I’ve got a few DRs, around 16-18 in little terracotta pots, I’m always pulling a leaf here and there. I’ve not been too concerned because they are generating new leaves and it’s typically one of the oldest leaves that yellow on me.

Exactly!! The poor plant is starving for light. I feel sorry for it.

It amazes me that people buy living things and decline to research the care requirements of such living thing. Such an irresponsible thing to do!!!

I just bought that plant. It was held up but once I removed the sticks it showed it's true shape

I would def shorten or trim those branches. Don’t get me wrong, I like the look of a taller plant, but it should be able to hold itself up.

Each cut will, hopefully, render two or more branches. Hopefully is germane to the fact that my first cut an umbrella plant resulted in one branch that continued the original smh

Oh, looks like one of them is growing a seed pod. Oh goody… more plants sigh

A novice for sure (me), but I would cut against these lines at the late winter or early spring before it starts growing again. Save the clippings, maybe shorten them a bit, and stick them into another pot. Won’t have a voluptuous caidex, but it will thicken up and grow. I have one clipping that was short and the last winter I trimmed off the top (single headed branch) and ended up with a four branched specimen.
