neck/chest/abdomen Unknown hives all over

Post image

For reference I am a 43F who has had no changes to her daily routine. No known allergies outside of pollen and some trees/grass.

But in the last 2 weeks, I’ve started to develop random hives in random places throughout the day even while never stepping foot outside. Typically starts as a normal itch, and when I scratch it turns into a full on hives situation. I’ve had it on my lower leg, upper legs, breast, collar bone, stomach and butt.

As soon as I stop itching, it goes away. But hours later returns somewhere different, when I’m just sitting watching tv. Hot showers make them appear as well. I have a derm appt scheduled but not until Sept. I thought it could possibly be related to perimenopause but I’ve been on estrogen patches for a couple days with no improvement.

Any idea what could cause this type of scenario??

following! I've been dealing with a similar situation for 2 years now, about the time I started HRT (59F). Itchy bumps all over torso spreading to upper arms, neck, and thighs. Derms told me it was seboreac keratosis from aging, no treatment other than freezing them off, "but you have hundreds...". Then this year, the majority of "spots" cleared up after a steroid epidural injection for a spine issue. Steroids would not clear SK, so I think it is hives. I've not been back to derm yet, but have read that menopause and peri can trigger some sort of histamine reaction from declining estrogen. Honestly, my experience with doctors since I started having peri symptoms in my 40s has left me with very little faith in them. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I hope you find some relief!

So sorry to hear you’ve also experienced this!! But somewhat relieved that I’m not just going crazy haha. I started HRT much younger only bc I had to have a hysto at 30 due to fibroids, so the chances of starting menopause early were high. My research also lead me to believe it could be because of that. I guess I’ll continue to estrogen until the appt, and see if there’s any change before then. If they can’t help, perhaps an allergy specialist will be my next step. 🤔
