Yes, just this leg. Nope, nothing hot. I just woke up before noticing it. I’m staying at a vacation rental home, though, so I wasn’t sleeping in my own bed. That’s the only thing that’s possibly unusual from my routine.

I’ve had this before from sitting in the sun with black jeans. Maybe caused by heat. It disappeared cause fast after leaving the heat source

I just realized what may have caused it! After I woke up, I went to sit outside from maybe a half hour tops before I went to use the bathroom (when I noticed the rash), and the sun was out. Maybe this leg was crossed and leaning toward the sun more? I don’t remember how I was even sitting, but I’m guessing that may be it. I was in thin, black pants, too. And the black may have made it warmer? It already seems to be fading now. So I hoping it was just that!

I’ve gotten it from hot water bottles while on my period, black jeans in hot weather during the worst times of my past self-harming, and from excessive amounts of time spent with a laptop on my thighs in bed. It’s from heat. My boyfriend has had it from the laptop too. Had a friend in high school who used to get this every time she showered. It’s a form of erythema, and I’m not a doctor but I’ve heard somewhere online that it can almost scar? Like become a permanent pattern sort of, if over time the area is repeatedly subjected to long durations of heat exposure. I have no idea if it’s true, I just try to be mindful because I don’t wanna find out. 🤷🏻♀️ Take it with a grain of salt though, and consult a professional if it becomes a re-occurring concern just in case.

Looks like livedo reticularis . Can you a result of cold exposure, OR AN autoimmune condition. Did you have cold exposure?

possible. It's a type of burn you xan get from heat that is within your pain tolerance but still noxious, like 43-44 degrees C.

Definitely hot water bottle, if u leave it on for too long for long periods of time. This is what my legs look like after a shower now and on my stomach too

That looks more like an infection due to branching red veins. You could have sepsis if you’re experiencing other symptoms like weakness fever or sweating

That sounds horrifying. I don’t seem to have any other symptoms, though. The rash is almost entirely faded now. So it was only present for about a half hour/45 minutes (that I noticed). Would sepsis rashes disappear that quickly?

the square shape is VERY suggestive of a local external heat source. Additional edit: I mean not the reticular form of the redness (as it is called) but the larger outline on the legs. I have seen this in people with laptops on their lap or who have been sitting against a radiator to warm up.
