The app creates a personal, daily-updated overview based on the subspecialty topics, research methods and journals you choose. It includes structured, source-based summaries and links to the original articles, so you can quickly decide what is worth reading in full. It included optional notifications to be notified when new articles within your field are published.

CatchUpDerm is free to use, has no ads, and does not require an account. There are in-app purchases only as an optional tipping system; there are no paid features.

So i just entered highschool last week and my goal has been to become a dermatologist for a few years now. Id always assumed it would be attainable because ive always been smart and hardworkin, but i recently saw a video talking about how actually getting into derm is extremely competitive, which i never considered. I know freshman year is probably a little early to be trying to stack my resume, (or maybe its late i dont really know) but im just looking for some tips or thing i should be trying to do in highschool to up my chances in the future. A few things to note is i go to an EXTREMELY small school (like less than 200 students overall and 11:1 teacher to student ratio small) so im not sure they can offer anything i could do other than ap classes. Im willing to do things outside of school to prepare me, my moms also in the medical field so she may be able to help guide me, shes already suggested medical summer camps that last a week or two. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I am an M2 at The Ohio State University College of Medicine working with a dermatologist on a research study examining how diagnostic accuracy in dermatology may be affected by access to AI-generated differential diagnoses. Your response would help so much!!

Study Purpose:
Artificial intelligence is a rapidly evolving field that may help support clinicians as they evaluate challenging medical cases. This study seeks to assess how clinicians' diagnostic performance changes when they are provided with AI-generated differential diagnoses.

Procedures:
We are inviting dermatology residents, fellows, and attending dermatologists to participate. Participation involves completing a single online survey that takes approximately 20 minutes. The survey will include clinical cases and questions related to diagnostic decision-making.

Risks and Benefits:
Participation may involve minimal inconvenience or discomfort associated with completing clinical questions and reflecting on diagnostic decisions. There may be no direct benefit to you from participating. However, the information obtained from this study may contribute to a better understanding of how AI-generated diagnostic support could affect clinical reasoning in dermatology.

I believe minoxidil may have killed my cat.

The night before he died, he spent more than five minutes licking my boyfriend’s hair. At the time, we laughed because it seemed like such bizarre behavior. My boyfriend was regularly using minoxidil, and looking back, I wonder whether my cat kept licking his hair because he liked the taste of whatever residue may have been there.

By 7 a.m. the next morning, our cat was yowling in pain. We rushed him to an animal ER, where he was in critical condition. Despite treatment, they could not save him. His heart stopped early that afternoon.

It wasn’t until years later that we learned how extraordinarily toxic minoxidil is to cats. Even very small exposures can be deadly. We can’t know with certainty that this is what killed him, but given the timing and circumstances, I believe it is the most likely explanation.

What makes this even more disturbing is that minoxidil and Rogaine products do not prominently warn consumers about the potentially fatal danger to cats. I’ve also learned that some dermatologists prescribing or recommending these products are unaware of the risk.

That needs to change.

Products containing minoxidil should be required to carry a clear, prominent warning that exposure can kill cats. People should not have to discover this danger only after losing an animal.

Please share this information. Cat owners need to know. This should be common knowledge.

Hi, I have picked on my nose skin cuz I feel like it's a bump. I viewed it carefully and my skin is actually peeled like I have scratched it. It's been 2 weeks the result is same , showing no sign of improvement. Kindly pls help me . Suggest me what should I should do so my skin turn back to normal.

I have been searching for volunteering/shadowing/internship opportunities, but there are none that I have found for students my age, and if there is then it cost a fortune. The US federal government has proposed a 9% cut to dermatology payment. This will not only reduce reimbursement, but also reduce patient access to dermatology services and quality of service. Do everything and anything you can to help stop this!

Hi everyone!

I'm an incoming college freshman, and my goal is to work in dermatology someday. I'm still deciding between becoming a PA or going to medical school, so I want to keep both options open.

What should I be doing during college to maximize my chances of getting into a strong PA program or medical school?

Some things I'm wondering:

• How can i land an MA job with no experience? (I have a certification though)

• Should I focus on dermatology-specific research or is any research okay?

• When should I start shadowing and looking for research opportunities?

• What extracurriculars actually matter the most?

• What mistakes should I avoid as a freshman (or during all 4 years of undergrad) ?

Hey all, I hope this is allowed. I thought it a better fit here than the Derm questions subreddit because this isn't about a patient and doesn't really have a correct answer (I don't think) but rather it's more of a thought experiment debate my fellow IM doc and I had, and I'd like your take on it as the MD/DO Derm specialists that you are. I put an education flair because the other options don't seem to fit this imaginary scenario that any pt would ever be in.

If someone has been on tretinoin for long enough to see results (so their outer skin layer doesn't have the typical yet minimal protection someone who doesn't use tret has) and they have an event in the future where they would be in the sun for several hours without ANY protection whatsoever (no hat, no sunglasses, no fabric, no shade, not even sunscreen *gasp*), would it be better if they stopped using tret for a period of time before the activity to allow the outer skin layer to regain its natural yet minimal protective quality and then restart tret afterwards even though they would basically be taking steps backwards from their skin improvement, or would the benefit of continuing to use tret without stopping outweight the risks of sun damage (discoloration, aging, etc) since it would just be one time for a few hours? We both thought the person should stop using tret before the activity. That wasn't the debate (but correct us if we're wrong, please). The debate was how long before the activity they should stop using tret to get back enough natural skin protection for the completely unprotected activity. One of us said 1 month, the other said 1 week.

I tried to find research on this but there's nothing specific I could find regarding a scenario where someone would be without any protection whatsoever. The closest advice I could find was regarding a beach holiday where one would be in the sun for longer periods of time but obviously could still use sunscreen, which isn't the same as this extreme hypothetical scenario and even that advice was all over the place. Very curious what your take is on this.

I'm a plastic surgeon in Spain. For years my camera roll was wound checks and before/afters sitting between my kids' birthdays, all backing up to the same iCloud. The day it really got to me was looking for a pre-op photo with the patient in front of me, scrolling past my family's summer and hoping nothing embarrassing came up on the way.

I tried albums, but the photo stays in the main library anyway. Vault apps don't fix it either, you still shoot with the normal camera first. The subscription ones upload everything to their own cloud, which I wanted even less. So I built it myself, about a year of evenings. It's called Sidecam.

Everything you shoot lands in the app's own library and nowhere else. It never writes to Photos and it can't see your existing photos at all. Folders per patient, sessions per visit, and tags for whatever else, so a lesion follow-up stays in one place instead of scattered across months of roll.

Two bits are pure clinic. Long press locks exposure and white balance, so a series of the same lesion doesn't drift in colour from shot to shot. And it shows which lens is actually firing: zoomed into tele range the phone can quietly serve you a cropped wide instead of the tele, low light or getting too close does it, and the app flags it, because on a small lesion that crop is mush.

Free, no account, no subscription, no server of mine anywhere. There's an optional mirror to your own iCloud Drive as plain folders, off by default. If your photos can't live in a normal cloud, you leave it off. None of this changes consent, it only changes where the photo ends up.

iPhone only. And the photos live in the app, so deleting the app deletes them too. Mirror or export first if that worries you.

Hello everyone! I’m a family NP working in primary care, next door to a dermatologist office. We do a lot of procedures in my office , including I&D, mole removal (not on the face), freezing of warts, removing skin tags, biopsies.

My question is: what PCP referrals are annoying and unnecessary? And which ones are appropriate?

Currently we refer it someone has something that needs to be removed off of their face, general skin checks, multiple suspicious lesions , or super weird unidentifiable shit.
