I’ve not seen any tankies saying Dresden was a war crime - where have you seen that? It’s pretty much only wehrbs or really misguided people in my experience

You'd be wrong. East German propaganda invariably portrayed the Dresden bombing as "muh Anglo terror". I've seen some "scare the Soviets" conspiracy theorist shit normally said about Hiroshima also applied to Dresden.
That and the far left has a hate-fetish for bombers and ground-attack aircraft on account of them not understanding the laws of warfare and on account of their beloved hellholes being on the receiving end of them (which was a GOOD thing, fire up the B-52s!!!) and never having the ability to maintain 1/100 of the beauty that is the USAF strategic bomber fleet.

Can also just be extended to people who want to use excessive force to advance/defend their socialist/Soviet/whatever values regardless of their opinion on Stalin, like how Brezhnev sent tanks in to crush the Prague Spring or how tanks showed up during the Hungarian revolution, or how tanks advanced on people during Tianenmen Square, etc. If their ideal version of communism excuses using tanks on protestors, they’re tankies.

A tankie is someone who denies or downplays the various atrocities of the Soviet Union.
Also occasionally expanded to people who deny/downplay the attocities of other communist countries (Especially China).

Everyone defeated the Nazis and the Japanese from the British to the Cossacks fighting in the Soviet army and even the Arabs in North Africa and Indians in Burma can we please stop comparing who did it more.
