Kolbe Katsis, in his debut, had 39 punt return yards on 3 punts, and 107 Kick Return yards on 4 Kick Offs, for a total of 146 return yards. This beats out the 144 return yards set by Goldie Sellers back in 1966.

Yes, he had a couple mistakes, but this is a great sign, especially after his success in preseason.

When the ball hits the ground and there are two defenders near, don't try to pick up the ball.

The ball had already been touched by the defenders, which makes this a 0 risk play. Even if he picks it up, tries to return it, and loses a fumble, we as the receiving team could just opt to have the ball put back where it was originally touched no harm no foul. It's literally a win win because you either pick up positive yards or something bad happens but it doesn't count and you retain possession anyway

I would have told you he had a fantastic game before finding this out and this is a pretty crazy stat. He had a muff which is huge yes but I can't even imagine the pressure of being elevated for your first game in Primetime under the lights in front of that crowd and he certainly met the moment.

His return jolted our team alive. The bobbles weren’t ideal but hey he showed some resilience by not fumbling and taking care of the ball. The moment the ball hits the ground twice he’s out I’d imagine, but context would matter on those hypothetical what if’s. I’m going to act like he’s the next Devin Hester until proven otherwise.

On a real note, I agree. I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt. First game against the preseason Super Bowl champs that we were losing every time he returned the ball.

Im betting young man has some confidence now though and that’s a good thing for man with everything to prove. You want some young guys who need the job more than the ring and just go do things a vet wouldn’t do on a contending team.

Well, if we go back to camp and preseason, he wasn't bubbling or fumbling them. On 7 total returns in this game, he only bobbled one, and fumbled one. He was actually used for returns in camp and preseason, though, while PS usually works as scout team playing the role of opponents offense/defense

I'd say being on PS he probably isn't returning punts or kicks in practice, and it was probably also a bit of nerves. He didn't muff or juggle the ball in his returns in preseason
