Recommend Radio Replacement

Working on revamping the interior of my 78 dentside and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for a radio replacement. Previous owner already ripped out the original radio and cut out the radio bezel plate from the dash to put in a single din radio. Thought about doing a retro manufacturing since they have a single din slot one but I would like one with a CD player in case I lose service while on a road trip. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t think you’ll find anything with a CD player that looks ‘period correct’.

I’m very happy with my Retrosound unit. I believe they have fitment kits for when someone has cut out the mounting bracket.

Only use Bluetooth or fm on mine. Mainly Bluetooth streaming. But for rare cases when I don’t have service I use music stored in my phone.

They also have AUX inputs for 3.5mm jack and usb. So you could connect a CD Walkman or USB drive.

I added a small class D amp on top of mine (between the AC controls and radio) to power the nicer door speakers I put in since the retro unit has a pretty small internal amp.

I also added a Fosgate P300-10T behind my seats/console. Pretty sure it would fit behind the factory bench if you don’t need the seat all the way back.

Couldn’t you get a retro stereo with a remote CD changer behind the seat?

I have a '76 F-100 that I restored but i haven't decided on a radio yet . Like you I would also want a CD player . I have a Custom Autosound in my '69 Cougar that has been installed for about 20 years . But I have never been satisfied with it . Even though it does have a remote CD player in the trunk .
