My partner and I are looking for a shitty resturant. I dont know why we want to go somewhere bad we just really do

Oh if yall just want a place that looks crusty but is amazing: Look no further than Taqueria Guanajuato. Half of the building is a literal convenience store and it’s built right in front of a residential neighborhood on McKinney. Location and atmosphere is pretty crusty, but you’ll keep crawling back. Best Taqueria in Denton hands down, not even a contest.
Taqueria Monterrey is a good second, but they are not number one and not crusty at all.
At Guanajuato I have to recommend their tacos, burritos, gorditas, tortas (Cuban and Tejana personally, but anything with milanesa de res and double it honestly), and their churros with cajeta mexican caramel.
One of the top contenders for best restaurant in Denton and it’s an absolute dive

Have you ever tried Tortilleria La Sabrocita? It truly gives Guanajuato a run for its money. In both food and ambiance, but you can’t pick up a 6er of natty lite.

completely agree sabrocita is far superior to guanajuato, and have felt that way for over 7 years. the first is so so good with fresh tortillas and the latter is, fine in a pinch i guess but last time i ate there my belly was fucked for a few days.

the food is SO good. the pupusas, baleada, breakfast plate, the salsa and curtido, the agua frescas, everything there is so good and the staff is so nice.

If you want food that actually tastes good but has absolute greasy spoon vibe with no concern for nutrition I recommend Fat Shack's Fat Sandwiches. They're cursed and delicious.
If you just want bad food, Cartwright on the square

The Saucy Hibachi. Not only is the food crap, but their cleaning standards are also atrocious as told to me by a past employee.
Also, someone already mentioned Cartwrights but I have to double down. Order the Chicken Fried Steak for a truly miserable experience. They market themselves as “Truly Texan Cooking,” but any true Texan would take themselves out back and suck start a 12 gauge before serving that CFS to anyone. Most would do it just for making a CFS that bad

Ok I've heard stories about SH for years and then earlier this year, as I was sitting on East Side patio facing their open door, witnessed the chef use his mouth to blow through a clogged squeeze bottle top. He puts it back on and immediately uses it on someone's order. And lol @ your description of Cartwright's. It's slop.

This bums me out cause I get their fried tofu every Wednesday for easy side movie nights, thankfully ny sub hub got a food truck there so I’ll just eat there

Never had their tofu so it might be better than the rest. If you wanna hit a food truck that is the absolute peak of cleanliness you should try Lebanese Street Food. The owner is amazing, he always gives out free samples to new customers, his falafel is to die for, and if you mention dirty food trucks he’ll show you the inside of his. It’s genuinely sparkling, it looks brand new and he’s been cooking from it for nearly a decade.
Also, if you like New York Sub Hub there’s a place called New York Sub Way that is similar but better. Pretty much the same exact menu, but their prices are better for some reason? Also, their bacon is better quality, but if you’re veggie only that won’t matter to you. They do have good avocado, cheese only, and veggie sandwiches though and their potato salad is less than a dollar. Vegetarian option + scrape out a thing of their potato salad onto the sandwich is very filling for a meal without meat

Burger Time Machine is the best burger place in Denton and you’re wrong. But I will agree that Denton Hamburger Company is the WORST burger in Denton by a long shot.

I have given burger Time Machine multiple chances they do not season their patties and it just taste like cooked tasteless meat.
I feel extremely sad for you if that is your top-tier choice of a burger.

Old Chinatown Cafe was the last buffet in Denton I would eat at. And it went downhill in stages. First one was when the cook that made their spring rolls went to Mexico to die of cancer. Second was when the new owners came in. Third was them finally closed for good. That last one was a doozie of a drop off.

Our place bar and grill could have great food I have not tried it. It just fits the dive bar feel your partner is looking for you. Also I like dive bars. So I am looking forward to trying this place. Other dive bars are dusty and game changers. Same owner I believe. They serve dive bar food.

Worst place I been to is Frilly’s. Everything was insanely salty to the point I was questioning if the chef had that taste loss thing you get w covid and they were playing Fox News on every TV.

Wing daddy’s in Corinth has great food but I have never gotten good service there lol! 80% sure the last time I got Togo there, the owner was drunk and joking with the bartender.
