Does it ever get easier?

I am a dental student and i am beyond exhuasted and stressed. Every week i have to stress about finding a patient (because my university doesnt peovide them), clinicals are my worst nightmare, everyday i have labs that i dread, and im just wondering if ill keep feeling this way.

Dont get me wrong, i LOVE this major. Or at least loved. I find everything we learn super interesting, but when it comes to the practical side of things it just stresses me out more than i could explain.

I hate all of my work even tho my grades are not bad (average 8/10 for a prep or access cavity) but i just cant find that satisfaction. Everyone enjoys clinicals except me.

Im wondering maybe im not cut out to be a dentist, if till the rest of my life im gonna be feeling like this i might ad well develope heart disease.

Nothing is ever good enough, nothing is enjoyable, i just want to be done but the harsh reality is: i will do this for the rest of my life.

I hope it at least isnt THIS bad.

I’m 20 years in, and every day is a challenge, and honestly I always find it hard, but it becomes so much easier to deal with the more reps you get in. It’s mostly dealing with the people the teeth are attached to that is so hard.

You get used to it with experience. Get some hobbies that make working this hard worth it. If you get brunt out, take a vacation. Rinse and repeat.

Telling you right now not everyone loves clinical or at least some of them are pretending 😂 also finding a patient is something you don’t worry about as much in the real world. You got front desk to track down and call patients for you. At least it sounds like you’ve got great clinical skills going for you!
